ok currently ive got 1 rf t112d4 on a rf t10001bd. had 2 blew one, replace it and blew the other one. been reading about fi on the smd fourm, and want some. my box is ~2.5 cubes x2 tuned to around 38. the amp puts out 1633rms at 1 ohm. the fi subs have 8 mounting holes? the rfs have 12 so im gonna have to make a new box or put a new front on this one. box cant go bigger. my ?'s are should i get the ssd's? or the q's? i dont like buying the "bottom" line of anything thats why i kinda want the q's. also should i upgrade to 15's? the 12's would be at the max recommended size and the 15's would be .5 under. any input would be appreciated.

thanks.

Are you going to be running just the one amp then to a pair? If thats the case, then the SSDs would work well. But, as with the RF amps (and Kickers) they dont have an adjustable subsonic filter and are set at 28 Hz at 12 dB/oct which is far to low and shallow tuned that high. I would recommend getting an add on filter (even the $35 Harrison Fmods that are adjustable set to 35 Hz would help greatly) for any sub combination with those amps. 12 dB and 10 Hz off is too far to be good.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

Thanks

Scott

so youre saying by box is tuned high? i can build a new box for the new subs tuned to what ever it needs to be. the one i got now is tuned for the rockfords, but its gonna need a new front somehow anyways, so its probably easier and better to just build a new one for new subs. the t10001bd is all im gonna use for now but might upgrade sometime , maybe the new rf t1500-1, but not anytime too soon. also you dont have any subs with rubber surround right? i just like the looks better but j/w. thanks

We currently dont use rubber surrounds... I do on some OEM, but it isnt my preference for most of my personal companies products (subs anyway)

With 1 amp per pair, the SSDs would do well with the power. The SSDs are far from an "entry level" or low line. They are quite tough and are geared towards specific applications... not just a cheapo sub. As for tuning high, its not an issue if thats what you prefer sound wise, but it is with that amp (and a few others) that do not have an adjustable subsonic filter. What happens is that below the tuning frequency the port acts as a hole and the sub flops basically in free air. With a filter that is factory set at 28Hz, it doesnt offer much help when you are tuned to 38. Id prefer setting it to about 35 Hz with only the 12dB/Oct rating it has. If it was a higher slope (18 or 24) you could set it a little lower.

Thanks,

Scott

Off topic question Scott, I will start my own thread, but, I have a Kicker Kx 2500.1 , i noticed when installing it that you could only turn the filter on, not adjust it.

I am wondering if my BL will be fine tuned at 35 with the Kicker filter at 28? Sorry OP for the thread jack, I am off to start my own thread :D

these????<------- is that what you are talking about??? if not than what?? thanks for all the info..

Also, what about the 15's or the 12's? thanks

Yes, but they have an adjustable F Mod as well. This gives you a a little more tweakability vs the regular versions.

With the box size you currently have, you really can only go with the 12s. The 15s need a little more air space than that to perform...
