I went over to mark's house and got to play with his Term Lab. Magic freq was 42hz and i did a 145.7 off a Tone and 143 off music. the van is nothing but rattles though. Box is tuned to low 30's. wasnt able to run everything at full tilt because of voltage loss.

Get you amp(s) some more current. :)

How loud do you need them? Really..

The MJ-18 was never intended to be a volume buster. The levels they currently produce in given environments, to me, is a pleasant surprise. The folks who use them in car audio seem to be content with the output they produce.

The volume ddeitz produced was wayyyy more than what I would ever listen to, but then again, I'm just an old man. ;)

The voice coil arrangement has something to do with it, and there has not been any really high power installs that are tuned high for a peak freq. to get the most output from them. Their advantage is the sheer cone size, but they are a smooth and clear sub that like mark said was not meant to be a high output sub.

well it was my first attempt on the meter with them so lots of room for imporvement :D the 18's move a ton of air and thats what i wanted them for. As for scores on the TL id love to hit a 150 with them..and i have an idea that may work, mark thinks its a little...extreme but well see fing05.gif

I know it's a good sub it sounds good and is loud to me but I would just love to see some one hit 150db's with them that's all:(

was that Usaci Leagle - on the window ?

or in the kick with the door open ?

what & how many subs ?

amp used ?

details man details...

Im planning on doing over 150s with them. Just need to work on it. Wife wants to bassrace the 140-149.9 class so that means a burp around 154.

DB Drag style..

I'm certain he will do much better once he firms up his van a little and gets a stable energy supply.
