Posted September 18, 200717 yr Im looking around locally for a place to build a box for 2 15's. Ive heard of a place called precision audio but I'm not too sure if they use quality material/planning/preparation/etc. All I know is they charge about 250-300 for a box. Does this sound reasonable to you? I know there are a whole bunch of variables but judging from your past purchases and stuff, let me know, thanks.
September 18, 200717 yr Reasonable if there's a lot of labor extensive work and the craftsmanship is flawless...
September 18, 200717 yr Author All right thanks. Never heard of any box prices before so I expect it to be quality. They built a box for my friends 12's and it slams. So for the most part, I just tell them what I want it tuned to and how many cubes and they do it to my specifications? Never had a box built for me before.
September 18, 200717 yr For $250, I'd expect at least 3/4" mdf preferably 1" and a double baffle with bracing. This would include a fairly standard ported or sealed enclosure even though the sealed is obviously easier to make. I wouldn't expect to see any seams in the end at that price either.Tell them to eff the terminal cup and just give you a wire either coming out the port or the side of the box.

After seeing one of our boxes basicly launch one of those terminal cups we drill holes for the wires and silicone seal them with a 1/4" round plate to make it pretty.
