Will the new Assassin 8 work well in a free air application? I'm looking to do 2 door mounted 8's for midbass duty.

Free air? Nope...but infinite baffle perhaps.

I'd be worried about off-axis response and how high you can cross over without sounding like ass...there are plenty of other 8's that won't have any issues and probably fit easier.

I am planning on crossing it over around 250 hz with a 24 db/oct slope. Then installing a 4" mid and tweet in the kick panels.
