Posted October 10, 200717 yr hi, i am looking for new speakers (i finally found someone to buy my xxx comps) and i don't want to spend more then 200 bucks and i saw the new Alpine SPX-17REF and i am wondering if anyone has any expericance with them. and also if they would take 125 rms and if they could be enough to be heard over 2 12" icons with 1500rms ported.
October 10, 200717 yr If you turn down the subs, sure.JoeHemi57 has owned a set, not sure if he used them or not.

October 10, 200717 yr i do have rear fill. Then you wasted money that you could have put into the front to actually do what you want your system to do.

October 10, 200717 yr In all reality, if you want to properly keep up with 2 15s, you will need proaudio drivers or horns, which are very efficient, that need to be installed directly on-axis. For midbass, you will need lots of cone area & available throw.
October 10, 200717 yr You have a ton of bass potential and it will be nearly impossible without getting really extreme. The real question is what is your definition of keeping up?
October 10, 200717 yr whats considered very efficient. i saw some speakers that are like 93%.93dB would be real efficient, but that isn't the only spec you need to look at as the way speakers are rated is not standardized.
October 10, 200717 yr Author would doing a ib set up with like 4 sets on the board and then the other 2 sets where they normally are. work. oh and it is 2 12" not 15" oh and what about these http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=12431 Edited October 10, 200717 yr by SouthPole1989
October 10, 200717 yr "Keeping up with the bass" is a horrible criteria for choosing speakers, IMO. You can get a bunch of $1.44 piezo tweets that'll "keep up" with the bass, but the question is will it be something you'd want to listen to? Chances are...no.And very efficient speakers in a vehicle aren't going to go together, save for horns. Most of those high efficiency speakers you're seeing are either lying or require huge boxes that you aren't going to fit in a door.
