Posted July 4, 200421 yr I've got 4 of the Morel MW-142's sitting in my garage and I can't help but notice that the 5" 327 component driver looks identical. The Morel MW-142 has a 3" voice coil and is rated at 150 watts RMS as well. The SI 327 driver I'm referring to is the upper right one on this page: http://www.stereointegrity.com/327.htmlThe Morel MW-142 can be seen here: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...tnumber=297-020
July 4, 200421 yr Admin the cone looks similar but I dont know the difference in the motor drive or anything elseNick any thoughts???
July 4, 200421 yr The only similarity is the look. There are about 5 companies out there that look like Morel's, but aren't. One of them at IASCA finals in '02 had yellow cones but looked identicle other than that. Yes it's a neo motor and has a 3" coil, but that's it. That's like asking if our new woofers are Eclipse's with paper cones.
July 4, 200421 yr Author A better question would be, "what's different?". From appearance it has the same diameter, cone, basket, surround, voice coil diameter and power rating. Do you have any side and back photos you could post?I was considering purchasing the 327 component set, in addition to the D2 I already own, but if I've already got 4 of the 5" woofers it wouldn't make much sense. What are the woofer specs of the 327 component series (Fs, Xmax, DC res, imp, vas, etc.)? Virtually no specs are posted on your site so it's hard to determine their effectiveness in my application. Are they best suited for infinite baffle, sealed or vented?Since your drivers are advertised as audiophile grade you'd sell a lot more if you provided every spec you could get your hands on.
July 4, 200421 yr We don't publish T/S's because they aren't necessary on a component set. The 307 and 327's will do well in either sealed kicks or door applications, both the 5" and 6" drivers are very flexible. On the note of power handling, if memory serves me right we had lower numbers until a few days ago when I bumped them up on the 307's after adding the 327's to our site, so they haven't been the same as what Morel publishes on their speakers. If they are the same now, it's just coincidence. We won't give out any more information on the the components than what's published on our web page - woofers, tweeters, or crossovers. If you like your Morel's though, why not keep them?
