Finally after a few weeks of telling myself to buy it, I just did. I'm already way too anxious for this sub. It's going to be quite different from my last sub stage which was 4RE8's in a 6th order bandpass. Im going to be running this one at 2ohms off of an md2d. Right now I'm looking at running it a ported box of 4cuft at ~28 hz. Any other sugggestions?

Either that or sealed, I really liked the 12Q I heard in their recommended sealed alignment.

I was thinking of just building both a sealed and a ported box to see which i like better. Room really isn't much of a problem because i never use the back of my explorer for anything.

i just got mine installed in a 4.8 cuft ported at 28 hz, this thing is crazy loud for one sub on a thousand watt amp? you can reallyl feel the air moving in the car. LOL i love it. def. go ported, it's also the best SQ i've had from a sub, just can't say enough about it.

Very good idea :)

For me, the output from the sealed enclosure was more than needed, but it may be different for you...the only way to really know is to do what you said.
