How's it goin?

Been surfing on this forum for a couple months now and finally decided to register. I found this site through CA.com (im a member there too) a while back. I would say i have some bit of knowledge on car audio, ive installed 2 systems (my old car and one of my friends' car). my last car was a an old 93 nissan sentra with a pioneer premier hu (680mp i think?) with some infinity components and a 12" infinity dvq sealed. I've sold that about a ~ 1yr ago and ive been running stock in a 03 Ford Escape since. I usually come on this forum and CA.com every other day just for some reading and to gather knowledge.

I'm 20 right now going to college @ chico state, and i hope to have enough money saved up by next semester (~jan-feb next year) to build a system. Unfortunately i dont get a chance much to actually hear a lot of stereos (bout half my friends dont even have cars) so i rely heavily on reading reviews and other info i can find. So far my system i plan to get is as follows:

Pioneer 880prs

PG RSD65cs Comps w/150 rms amp (unknown yet)

15" Icon + Sundown 1000d combo (assuming the combo deal is still available when im ready to purchase)

Sub will be in 4ft^3 box tuned to 30hz

Thats pretty much the order i will be buying things but my system plan seems to change frequently as time passes but i will see how it goes.

Looking foward to being part of the SSA community!!!

The ICON is an excellent choice. I doubt the combo will go away anytime soon so you should be safe.

Welcome to SSA!

Hey! With the 880, you can run active. Great headunit to do it with as well.

Ya i was thinking about going active but im not sure how great of speakers i can get to fit my budget. The RSDs i should be able to get for less then $100 shipped. My budget if i went active would probably go up to $150, which im not sure is enough to give a large difference in sq compared to the RSDs. I also am going to keep these in the stock locations, so that might be another thing to consider.

I'd bet you could blow away the PGs with a $150 active set up

It will make a huge difference.

I know I broke your budget, but the difference will be HUGE. Sort of like comparing a Cavalier to a Ferrari.

You can get by with a smaller budget as well, but that combo is a steal!
