Ok, im looking into get a pretty nice system, but i cant decide on which sub to get..

1. new orion hcca 15"

OR

2. 1 fi btl 18 was going to run them on a hifonics BXi 2607D at 1 ohm..

what you guys think, im kind pressed for money.

If you're kind of pressed for money, that rules out the BTL as a viable option, and personally I wouldn't use that amp with anything.

Well...he didnt really say HOW MUCH money was too much or how much he was pressed.....you can obviously find prices for both subs....so you know which one you can afford. Personally the 18" btl is by far a better sub. The 15" orion HCCA IMO is not a good comparisson between the BTL.

Not too many people have used the new hcca. But I would imagine it to be nice...but not nearly as nice as the BTL.

So far on Orion's subwoofer challenge, they have not battled against anything from RE or FI.....why not? People have asked....but they havent done it yet....I wonder why?

willing to spend around 1500 for a whole setup. amp, sub, box, wiring, headunit......

if i should not use the hifonics amps, what amps should i use instead, cant spend like $800 on an amps, just need something somewhere between 4 and 5.

thanks...

that's about what i spent on my system, except i got a discount from work on the amps so you'd have to find another option there.

for 1500 i'd go with a simple alpine or eclipse deck, somewhere around 160-170 bucks that has ipod-ready HD radio ready, and all the new bells and whistles.

next front stage, somewhere around 300 dollars, personally i'd go with polk momo's, i have the db series and love them. (although dropping an extra k on new front stage in the coming months)

i'm running a 15" Q d2 w/bp. i have it in a huge ported box and can see it taking 1600-1800 daily. i've got 1200 on it now.

if build your own box, something simple, no fiberglass and stuff materials should be 50 bucks, if you have the tools.

then for amps, you just need to find deals around on the web, not hard to do really www.woofersetc.com is one try. i've heard nothing but good from them except for one order somebody put in on focal speakers wasn't quite right.

now for the numbers, total cost of above is 789 which leaves 711 for amps and wiring kit for the amps, i'd get a wiring kit from woofersetc for cheap, like a multi-amp one, don't see how that wouldn't be the "real deal"

oh yes, and if you noticed i didn't mention rear fill, because it's unnecessary. IMO best thing to do is bridge your 4-channel on a decent set of front stage and they will sound awesome!! speakers love power i have around 250 on each of my polkdb6501's up front and they sound sooo clean and get soo loud with no distortion because gain is down on the amp (a plus from bridging all that power on them)
