Posted November 2, 200717 yr I already have one rl-i8 soundsplinter but i worried that I won't get enough out of it (not in car yet) so ive been lookin at porting it I can't go any bigger then 1 cube after port. it will get 400watts. I would just get one more and do two sealed but I can't afford another one. I have never built a ported box before, what size chamber and port do I use? can I just build one like this guy? this would fit in where I want it. at 400watts would this get plenty loud? want to hit at least 135db.http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=246811thanks all before hand Edited November 2, 200717 yr by rexbox
November 2, 200717 yr if you're unsure on how to build a ported box i sure wouldn't start out with a fiberglass ported enclosure. building small low tuned boxes can be a task too, not worth the effort IMO. by the time you're finished the box is nearly so big you could have gone with a 12" sealed.
November 2, 200717 yr My 12" Rlp sealed is in a much smaller box than my Rli8 ported. It isn't even 2/3's the size. Building a ported box for a small box driver like the RLi8 isn't trivial and doing one out of glass is near impossible unless you have a lot of experience doing it.
November 2, 200717 yr This will give you an idea....I really should have slanted the corners as well, but half the purpose of me putting this box together was to show others what a .65cuft box tuned low looks like.
