I just bought a 18" Avalanche which im going to be using for HT use. I was wondering what size box i should make for it and what i should tune it to. Also about how many square inches of port i should use. Thanks.

Sonotube...as big as your room/ceilings will let you...:)

"EBS/LLT sounds like a really awesome idea."

well ive got no idea what that is. I am probly just gunna make a regular ported box. Its just gunna sit in the corner of my room so space isnt really and issure. It just has to be able to fit through the door of my room. Ideas?

EBS = extended bass shelf

LLT = large, low tuned

Basically two ways of saying the same thing...building a very large ported enclosure that's tuned somewhere near or in the infrasound range (under 20Hz).

Avalanches are perfect for this sort of thing :)

ya thats why i decided to buy this sub becuase ive heard its great on the lows. I was planning on tuning somewhere around 18hz probly but i still need to know how big of a box to make and how many sq" of port to have. So ya Large Low Tuned is what im gunna make i guess.

That driver will work in a wide range of enclosures.

Anywhere from 8-10 ft tuned to 20 Hz will work nice if space is an issue.

If it was me, and space was not an issue, I would build a 30" cube with 1.5" thick walls (around 12.5-13 ft net), and tune it to 18 Hz.

I have run one in 4.3 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz in a car and it was awesome. . .
