Alright guys I'm new to SSA and Fi. I'm Ramin, i live in Cali.

I'm paying my friend about 100 a week for a Bl 12" w/ cooling, a Nine.1 Amp, and a custom 2.4cuft box tuned to 32hz. (i'm paying 640 altogether)

He had the setup for about 2 weeks, and now decided he's gonna get the bl 18. So he's selling me his new setup.

Well firstly, is there anything i should change about that setup.

I could for example sell that amp and get a new one.

Secondly, i'm not the best with car audio.

My friends help me with most of the installation etc.

I know a decent amount though.

The setup will be going in a 07 Audi A4, and a couple friends have been telling me that i'd need a new head unit

because the sub needs to be connected to the speakers cuz they cant be connected to the oem head unit or something.

Problem with that is I paid quite a bit for navigation etc, so new head unit is out of the question.

I got a few suggestions.

Such as OEM integration (soundcontrol for example)

or connecting the stock amp to the fi sub and to the nine.1 amp. I don't remember how exactly.

Anyway. Help would be much appreciated and i'm sorry about the long post.

I went the crude way for my home setup. I'm using an old H/K amp with no variable volume RCA outs, so I bought a Scosche High Level to RCA converter at Wal-Mart. It taps into your speaker outputs and gives you an RCA signal to work with. Now I know its not the most elegant solution, but it cost me all of about $20, and it sounds fine for my purposes (subwoofer). So don't hate. :D Theres one simple solution for ya. :)

Lol, thanks for the suggestion but i want the best quality i can get.

money isnt a major factor.

1st of all welcome to SSA, its truly an awesome place... there are a LOT of knowledgeable ppl here, Fi products are awesome, you deff wont be disappointed in that sub... i would proll try and sell the nine.1 and get something better look into Sundown amps

if you want to keep the factory h/u i suggest you get the rockford 3sixty.2 it integrates into your stock h/u, then you can add amps and subs just like you would for an aftermarket cd player... plus it has a ton of eq goodies

Is the 3sixty.1 that inferior to the 2? The 3sixty.2 is a little too expensive for me. What does the 2 have that the 1 doesn't. BTW When i say money isnt a major factor im talking 300 max.

is it possible to connect the OEM amp to the Fi sub and still have the sub being powered by the Nine.1?

and if so how?

what wires etc?

Thanks in advance.

the difference is in the EQ the ".2" has WAY more features that can come in handy if you want to upgrade later... like upgrading your components from passive to active cause it has built in xovers the ".1" only has it for the sub i believe... im sure you can find one on Ebay for cheap

you'd have to bypass the factory amp and convert the signal into RCA like what stevesan is saying... but i doubt it would sound good, my best bet would to look on ebay for either .1 or .2

x2 on this as well. It sounds like you have a very nice OEM HU and are just trying to upgrade within you budget. The LOC you mention from Walmart is a good cheap alternative for people who have basic OEM HUs in there cars, but I def would not recommend that for you. The Rockford will give you much more options for adjusting the system, (esp handy if later down the line you upgrade your front speakers and amp them) as well as giving you much better sound quality.

Trust me, ive installed plenty of those LOC, and they get the job done, but thats it. Plus, it may not even work with your HU.

go for the 3sixty, it's swEEt, works with bluetooth, laptops and palms, that's right, you can tune your EQ from your computer and/or palm, how cool is that? probably one of the better sound processors out there, my favs are the 3sixty's and the alpine h701, but the alpine needs either an alpine HU that can control it or the controller for an additional 250 bucks, I mean in your case it would be cool to have the controller too so that your current HU would only be a player, (much better SQ that way), but the processor alone is 500 so 750 although badass is a lot of money.

For ease of use I'd go with the alpine, just as good as the RF, both very close in quality, the alpine is probably a little more compeition worthy though, much more EQ settings.

the 3sixty.1 is nice, but the gentleman above is correct, not the best xovers for speakers, only for sub, plus the .1 is only 12db octave, and .2 has selectable 24db (24 is much better)means a stronger xover

Heh, you guys make it sound pretty bad, but the LOC isn't all that bad. You could try it out, and if it doesn't sound good enough for you, then just hang on to it, I'm sure it may come in handy for something. Unless you pony up the cash for the Fosgate. :D :D

K, thx for the suggestions.

Looks like i'm going for the 3sixty.2

Should have everything by early december.

What do you guys think of the nine.1.

A couple hundred more watts added on to 1400 wont do much..

I've heard lots of good/bad things about the nine.1.

What do you guys think?

If worst comes to worst I can sell the nine.1 and buy a sundown 1500 or similar

Every car is different. Before you buy a 360.2...there might be more applicable alternatives if you are just replacing/adding the subs. If your car has an OEM sub, it might be more effective to use an SVEN2 off of the OEM sub leads.

Not sure about the Audi's...might want to check with a local reputable shop or check out an Audi message board for info.

Yeah i'm only adding a sub. I've been looking around a bit and found a couple LOC's that seem good.

David Navone has some nice ones: http://www.davidnavone.com/adaptor_products.htm

This is pretty good by SoundGate: http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/sgtloc42.html

And the Pac trunk loc seems alright as well: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5285_PAC+TRUNK-LOC.html

Considering that i'm not going to need the xover for the speakers i could just go with the 3sixty.1 as well.

Let me know of the best (or really high end) LOC you guys can find.

It's either the 360.1 or a great LOC.

If you have any better suggestions let me know =).
