Hi im gettting a 12" q and i was wondering if this could be done? I just dont want to worry about tinsel slap and i kind of like the look better thanks :D

sry to thread jack but thought id ask acid... would it help any if the tinsils were in the spider? ive seen this design a few times and it seems like a good one but im sure theres a reason its not being used... my ownly explanation is maybe the tinsil getting to hot? thoughts?

woven tinsels = tinsels woven into the spider

With the Q's you shouldnt have to worry about slappin especially if you built your box correctly(well correctly as humanly possible) and not being stupid with power :)

My Q has soft felt on the back of the cone where the tinsel wires are near it. I think that would do away with any noise that you would hear. the Q will be so loud you would never hear that anyway! haha

Tested many variations of the "woven" style. Nothing but issues for durability, even with nomex spiders. It abrades the spider and over time saws through. I have had several fires with it as well. The issue becomes how many tinsels you can get into the woven portion without deformation or even faster wear... too little and it heats up and can cause fires in PC spiders.

Plenty of other stuff in the works through :)
