Posted November 15, 200717 yr I have lamented over speakers for several weeks now and must end the madness by making a decision.... I am opting to have a stealth install done in my 2005 LR3. I have a few questions regarding it and was hoping that I could draw upon your sage advice. I listen to everything, really, but probably lean a little bit more towards deep bass (i.e. Reggae, R&B, Rap). However, metal, classical, jazz etc. are listened to as well. I want mostly SQ but would like to have the SL there also as I do like them to bang (a' la two 15" MTX terminators... the memories, I miss that system).1) The speaker(s) will be mounted in the left side panel of the rear cargo area. As a result, the speaker(s) will face sideways (from the right to the left side of the SUV cargo area). Does this decrease, increase or in any other way effect SL and SQ compared to having the bass travel towards the rear (as most SUV installs do)? If I'm not mistaken, there won't be any cancellation with both speakers facing the same way. 2) Shop #1 has recommended that I install two Kicker 10
November 19, 200717 yr I'm never one to buy things from a dealer, much less let them install it in my car. But if I had to choose between those setups, I would go with the JL/Alpine combo and hope that they don't bend you over and rape you on the price.
November 22, 200717 yr I would go with the alpine and jl combo as well. I am actually quite fond of the w6, one of my friends had 6 12" w6's in the back of a blazer ran off of a kicker 2500.1 with all pheonix gold components and it did real nice. It wasnt amazing or anything but sounded nice and got some decent flex. The icons would do nice too but they are deep as well. Have you looked into the SI mags yet? Those are nice as well. The mmats dealerships areound here praise them a ton and always sell them at FULL retail. I tried to work with a local shop, but they were at least 2-3 times the internet prices and they tried to steer me towards kicker comps at full retail right before i walked out. MMats is not a company im terribly impressed with. The l7s arent bad, just nothing special.I try not to support the local businesses out here because they dont support the hobby.

Do you know what you're working with in the LR3?Kicker Mounting Depth appears to be 6-1/8", thats not too far off either...
November 23, 200717 yr I'm not the thread starter I was simply offering my input. I dont memorize sub specs and didnt look up the mounting depth but i do remember the q and icon as being hefty drivers with a big butt
