December 2, 200717 yr Im driving a Dodge Dakota extended Cab with 2x 12" Q's. Should i go sealed box or ported?Q's are really a sealed box driver, and it would be easier to fit a sealed box in a pickup due to size.
December 6, 200717 yr I like sealed If you are looking for the last bit of output out of things, then ported is the way to go... but sealed just does everything correct as far as Im concerned. Not too mention Im a wimp when it comes to bass...lolThanks,Scott
December 6, 200717 yr Author Area i have to work with is height - roughly 20"width - 54"depth - 16"Im planning to get a sundown 1500 to run them, im going for more of a sq system, but i love bass so id like to to be loud The dimensions above are the maximum i can fit just to let everyone know.
December 6, 200717 yr Lots of space and solid power. You can kind of straddle the two (SQ and output) by stepping up to a pair of Q15s sealed. Get sealed sound but more output.Otherwise most people consider sealed the way to go for SQ and a pair of 12Qs will get loud and sound clean.
December 6, 200717 yr i vote sealed...even though the Q sounds very good ported, i've always enjoyed any good subwoofer sealed
December 7, 200717 yr Author I think im probably going to go with the sealed box but when i got my subs they came in a ported box. Im not sure how its tuned or its exact dimensions but its a very nice box. Im going to try both options and see what i like better.. Any recommendation on facing subs towards the back of the seat or towards the ceiling?
December 22, 200717 yr well to tell you the truth if you were going sealed id make the enclosure fire down to the floor, then still if u had chit to throw on the box you could for more room, i drive an f250 but mine in ported whole backseat is taken up, ported up sounds good, sealed i belive sounds better down
