Posted December 3, 200717 yr Alright to start off I'm new here and I am in no way imposing the w7 to be the end all sub woofer. Well it seems like everyone around me is trying to run the mojo of the w7. I want to sound better and get louder than my uncle. He has a 12w7 ported at 2.25bubes at 32hz on a pdx1000.1 this in my opinion is loud enough. I plan on getting two 10' q's. I am unsure on what to power them with. Probably a sundown 1500d. I can put the subs in boxes about 1 cube net I am not sure on what to tune it to. But Do you think I will be able to out slam his setup?
December 3, 200717 yr Author Or would these be better for what I want. SSA ICON 10D1I want a good street slammer I don't plan on getting on the meter. I need to out pound 12w7 and If I can sound better while doing it even better.
December 3, 200717 yr The quality of his install and the quality of yours will be the 2 biggest factors in deciding which will get louder. The pair of Q and the pair of Icons both have the potential to be louder.

The pair of Q and the pair of Icons both have the potential to be louder.I plan on making the quality of my install top notch. His is o.k cartoys custom quality. No prefab boxes they charged him 700 for the box since it looks like a center console. The box was built to jl specs internal wise.
December 3, 200717 yr Admin Welcome to SSA. Both the ICON and the Q, when put in a well built box with clean power, can give a very clean sound. The Sundown 1500 is a solid choice. Are you dealing with any depth or space issues?

The Sundown 1500 is a solid choice. Are you dealing with any depth or space issues? Yeah I have a space issues. Each bx can only be 21" wide by 10.5" tall And the subs go on the 10.5" wall its like sliding subs into a bookshelf.
December 5, 200717 yr i once ran 2 hollywood exursions 10's in a 67 camino, it was nice, but im wondering how deep that W7 is,... o but anyway if you dont allready have the W7 i say get a FI audio sub..... and a sundown amp jacob and scott are both kings among men
December 5, 200717 yr Author Alright we covered that I can get louder and sound clean. Now which sub do you recommend the icon or the fi q. I have a saz1500d on the way. So now is it the fi q or the icon. That icon looks like a meaty beast in a 10". But which would you recommend the icon or the q. About 1 cube a piece. Separate boxes. and all. So what do you guys think?
December 5, 200717 yr Are you porting the box or running sealed? If you're porting, I would go with the ICON. Due to the size you have listed though, it looks like you want to run sealed.Which is a shame, because the ICON's shine when put in a properly sized ported enclosure.I sincerely doubt you will beat the W7 in output with a sealed box.
December 6, 200717 yr Author No I have about 1 cubes net. I am going ported for sure so I should go with the icons over the q's and I should over power the one 12w7 with my 2 tens.
December 6, 200717 yr uhh.. well each speaker needs .75cuft minimum. You should try to shoot more towards 1.25cuft though for each chamber.
December 6, 200717 yr With your box size your goals are unobtainable, you need more space to beat his setup although with the right space it would be easy with a pair of ICON's.
December 6, 200717 yr Author I guess I will have to fiberglass then. The I will have a little 2 cubes net per box. That should be plenty for the icon 10s. So am I good now or are my goals still not attainable.
December 7, 200717 yr If you port the 10's still, 2 cubes should be more than sufficient. I'd aim for around 1.5-1.7 after diver displacement though to be perfect.
