Hey everyone, I'm new here! I'm about to put some bass back into my car finally. Just hoping you guys can be a little better help than RoE was. So I'm thinking I want to go with 1 12" SSD and I'm looking at a Hifonics BXi1206D amp. I'm only looking to spend about $600 on everything. Now a few questions: Do you think that amp is a good match? What type of box should I run? (I like real powerful bass) And is my 4ga wire going to be enough. (I already have a Rockford Fosgate p400.4 hooked up to my door's) Thanks in advance!

If you like real powerful bass, why not go with a Sundown SAZ-1500D pushing a Fi Q (with cooling) in a ported box? That should get loud as !@#$, but it will be more then $600. The BXi1206D might be a bit much for the SSD, as it is rated at 800 watts, and maybe a little more then 1000w with cooling. If you keep your gains down, it should be alright though. I might suggest 2 gauge wire to the 1206D too, to minimize any voltage drop, and make sure that things don't start getting messy, especially since you said you like real powerful bass.

Hifonics...ehhhh not so much.

Go to Cadence.com and go to their outlet store, then amps, and snag a TXA 1000D. It's been benched at 1.2-1.4k watts by several people. Much better buy then a Hifonics.

Per sub woofer choice, I'd do a 15Q sealed. Should sound very nice and get very loud at the same time, if you can fit a 18, do it. 18's are cool.

I'd never run more then 120 amps through 4 gauge. 2 gauge would suffice but there is so much more support in dblocks for 1/0, it would probably be easier just to go that route.

Good luck

Yeah, I would stay away from Hifonics. The only reason I didnt sugguest 1/0 is because the Hifonics only accepts a 2ga. :)

Alright, I appreciate the feedback guys! I'll check into that stuff when I get back to my psych final O_o. Do you guys recommend the BP Power, Flatline Coil, or Copper Coil with those? And as far as a 15.....I have a pretty small trunk so I'm gunna have to double check and make sure it will fit XD

Welcome aboard... youll find SSA to be very helpful and friendly.

SSD with BP option and flatwind will take the power, but you arent far $$$ wise at that point from the Q series. Definitely can make a solid setup with $600 for the substage.

My advice, find the amp you want first and size the sub and coil to it after. Some amps are still 2 Ohm stable and no sense picking up the sub until you are sure what you have power wise. We can tailor them to about anything.

Thanks,

Scott

I think I'm probably going to go with TXA 1000D amp and the 1ohm Q12.....Just like to thank everyone for their input! Hopefully I'll have everything installed around the new year and I'll let you know how it goes! I'm welcome to any more suggestions, too.
