Posted December 12, 200717 yr i have never really have any experience with Fi audio and was hoping to get some feedback. i want to switch to fi subs but i dont have the money yet and i saw that fi x-series was on sale. i currenly have two 12" memphis hpo (old m3) on a 1000 watt amp, but my question is should i get three new 12" Fi x-series? would they sound better than my two hpos? nothing is wrong with the hpos, i just want to get new subs? would the x series be better or should i just stick with my hpos??any input is appreciated.thanks
December 13, 200717 yr Fi is an awesome company.....absolutely cannot go wrong with any of their products. I dont know much about the X series (I've only used the BL and BTL), but have heard nothing but great things....another plus is this forum, you'll always be able to get advice on how to setup your fi subs. I say go with 3 (or even 4 :-) Fi X series. Great woofer at a great price, plus...its always more fun to show off more woofers.
December 13, 200717 yr X2, would this be a sealed application or ported? if sealed, two X's will handle that power, if you do it correctly. Ported you can still use them, but remember you have a lot more power than their rated. Personally with a thousand watts I'd go with a Q series, that's what i have, it's the sound quality line from Fi, absolutely awesome, incredible sound sealed, and slams with authority ported with still plenty of SQ. (not saying they're aren't loud sealed either)
December 13, 200717 yr Author my plan is to go with 3 12"s sealed orrr shall i go ported?thanks for the input guys.
December 13, 200717 yr Author how much room do you have in your car? measurements?i have a suv with about 48" of space wide to fit 3 12" x's
December 13, 200717 yr SUV? go ported man, you'll love them, just remember ur not going to be able to run the woofers at a normal ohm load when running 3 of them, so that will alter the performance of the amplifier.

December 14, 200717 yr Fi subs are awesome. . .Yes, wire the coils on each sub in series and then parallel all 3 subs for 2.7 ohms. How much height and depth are you willing to give up? Go ported if you can. . . .

December 14, 200717 yr More than enough room to go ported.48 x 18 x 18 works great. Build it out of 3/4" material, double the side with the subs on it to make it 1.5" thick.I would use (3) 4" aero ports 13.5" long. That would be around 6.5 ft^3 net tuned to 32 Hz.Add a couple of window braces between the drivers and you should be good to go.
