I need help deciding on these.i got a punch 1000bd and it does 811 rms @ 2ohms(this would be for the mj-18s) and 1215@1ohm for the maw 15s.I got the whole bed of my truck for box room.so i could build a little bigger more efficient box for the 18s since my power is a little low.I got plenty for the 15s,i was just considering the 18s because ive never had 18s and i like LOW bass.no contests just me listening and maybe a little showin off at work.Which would be better for my taste.18s would be awesome if i got enuff to power them.but if the 15s would be louder with 400 more watts than the 18s i may go that route.ive emailed mark at mach 5 and havent gotten any responses.thanks Dave.

They will both produce low bass just fine. The MJ's are a finesse woofer and have a cone advantage, but the 15's will get more power out of your amplifier. Cost is not factor here since they are virtually the same price. From my experience, I think the MJ's blend very well, and the MAW's can handle all types of music in a ported box.

thanks for the help...im still unsure.i dont care about bass over 40hz.will the 18s move more air and sound great on 800watts(400 each) or will the 15s hold their own on the lows with the additional power.im gonna go ported for sure,as big as neccesary.like i said,ive never had 18s and their sheer size looks awesome. thanks,space is no issue.

The 18's size is pretty impressive, but for some reason, I think the 15's are the better choice for you. Just a hunch. But if you want the sheer size of the 18's go for it, you are getting a little more sub for the same money, and if you ever needed to down size your box, the MJ's do very well sealed too.

ya im leanin towards the 15s,can hardly wait.need to sell my bnib 2007 punch p3 12s 1st so the wifey dont get mad,but if they dont sell in a week or so im gonna order the maw 15s anyway.thanks dave.imgonna need box volume and port demensions too for the 15s.

Are you sure your not going to regret not getting the 18's?

I would LOVE the 18s,as long as there was good output.i got an s-10 regular cab with a shell.my current/old system is a audioque 2.5 15,4 cubes w/64 in of port tuned to 40hz,firing thru a 12x32 blowtrhu on a kx600.1.the most impressive bass is at 28hz.lots of flex and air movement and sound.new system will be the p1000bd(ive already bought)and whatever subs 15s or 18s,firing up thru the removed back glass booted to the campershell.ill build a hatchback type cover/enclosure over the subs to keep ALL the sound in the cab.i did this years ago 1991 in my truck and it was loud w/4 15s tuned low.if the 18s will outdo my ONE 15 id love to go that route.maybe like 5or 6 cubes after disp.per driver tuned around 30.I would be very happy w/140db at a low tuning.remember all that bass will be firing into a regular cab s-10.like i said i like it low,i listen to rap,country and slow,easy listening music and some bass cds that have lots of 20 to 30 hz beats.I love the titanic soundtrack,who'd think "my heart will go on"could hit so hard and low.i got a 138db w/that song on 2 12s.so talk me into the 18s and ill get em.well i think i talked myself into it.i just dont want to be disapointed as this will likely be my last big build.family life should take priority over car audio.i just got the bug 3 years ago when a buddy had me put 2 12s in his mustang. i ragged him and said he was too old to be messin with car audio again.well ive been back at it since then too.started w/ (1) 8 then 2 (8)s then (1) 12 then 1 solobarac 10 then my audioque 15.so now come the 18s:) hehe.

I think you will love the MJ's they have a lil bit more cone and can take just as much as the MAW-15's can + I'm in a car and only have one MJ-18 and I can do about ~140db so...........O and they will get loud off 400Wrms to

well.i wasnt sure about the wattage so i got the maw15s so my amp will be at 1 ohm and put out 1200watts.i really wanted the mjs but just wish i couldve got 2of the to 1 ohm.oh well.ive never had an 18 and probably never will now.hopefully ill get the maws bangin hard in the right ported box.thanks for the reply.

I love my 18s. They will play anything from 24 hz and up. Does a 148.4 on the dash with bad batterys. They sound great on music also
