December 30, 200717 yr How about big ported! 5cubes plus, 20Hz or lower.More home theater or home stereo? (either way I'd say the same, but everyone seems to think sub 30-35Hz for music is a waste...BAH!)
December 30, 200717 yr well to make them happy, go 4 cubes around 27-33Hz....still a bit large and low for music, but it's in home and may do some THX.1 duty?(ignore that...6 cubes 14-20Hz!!!)
December 30, 200717 yr iirc home theater boxes need to be huge like in the 12-16cuft range for that 18", and tuned low to like at 20hz.
December 30, 200717 yr Seal it... it has like a 30 Hz F3 sealed IIRC. I was going to do a sealed XXX 18 in my home but I sold em' all.
December 30, 200717 yr for years I hated ported, but after learning and learning, i finally realized it was because most people tune higher...much higher (and have much less airspace) than my personal tastes.I can no longer justify using 50% of the cone's movement, trapping the other 1/2 in a sealed chamber. Port it. Transmission line. TPQW. Anything hexiBase would make. But don't waste the back 1/2 of the driver!
December 30, 200717 yr the last one I did was a couple years ago and I did it in 10 cubes with 100" of port tuned to 20 hz. If I remember right, the port was a pain in the arse, b/c of how long it had to be, but man it was sick for movies. Had a crown CE1000 (i think that was the model number) on it.-Shawn

December 30, 200717 yr Sealed 5 cubes or ported 7.5 cubes tuned to 28 Hz (for music) or 10 cubes 18 Hz (for home theater).
December 31, 200717 yr Hmmm thats a hard one, I havent ever had the opportunity to play with an RL-P, but the XXX does have more movement, 27mm vs 33mm of x-max.
December 31, 200717 yr Id rather have a RL-p for HT than a XXX.The specs are more forgiving IMOD2 D4Qts: 0.436 Qts: 0.493 Qes: 0.482 Qes: 0.554 Qms: 4.535 Qms: 4.500 Fs: 20.71 Hz Fs: 21.5 Hz Re: 3.74 Ohm Re: 6.26 Ohm Ls: 3.317 mH Ls: 4.341 mH Rp: 7.629 Rp: 10.27 Vas: 314.2 L Vas: 276 L Mms: 376.7 g Mms: 373 g Cms: 156.7 u Cms: 137.7 u Bl: 19.50 T*m Bl: 24.25 T*m SPL: 89.45 dB SPL: 89.25 dB Sd: 0.1188 m^2 Sd: 0.1188 m^2 Xmax: 27.4 mm Xmax: 27.4 mm
