You can sit in a vehicle at meters 150db yet a vehicle that meters 140db could sound twice as loud to your ears.

All a mic does is measure preasure at the dash.

I'd rather have a loud setup to the ear than a setup that meters well. But I don't compete so thats my .02 dollars

How do you think your ear hears things? Here's a hint: pressure.

If you measure 150dB at 40 Hz at your ear in 5 different vehicles, it will sound just as loud in all vehicles.

Comparing scores on the dash is pointless because that's not where your ears are.
