i read what i could find on what makes an amp what class but nothing on how each performs. why i'm wondering is i'm considering using an ab amp bridged for my sub. i'm trying for what i would imagine is described as LSQ.

a class AB amp will work perfectly fine for your sub

I agree, because in my car I use an AB amp.

A, AB, D, T, on a sub you cannot hear the difference, hell on fronts as long as the amp is good you won't hear the difference.

I can't tell the difference between my Class D full range & the AB I used before that.

Subwoofer, even less of a chance to hear the difference.

Class A/B amps will be lower distortion, especially noticable at higher frequencies. Though, the downside is much lower efficiency.

Check some of the "tech talk" section at www.zedamps.com he has some good info on amplifier "classes".

I noticed an improvement in SQ with A/B's on my subs, but for the ammount of power I like to run, it's not really practical without serious electrical system upgrades.

good stuff, still a little over my head but i get the idea. basically the class ab amp offers less distortion than a class d, and as long as it is effiecint it will work fine.

while there is some truth to this a few years ago, new technologies are reducing the amount of high frequency distortion that the class d makes which is making the full range class d amps have just as little distortion as the class a/b amps now.
