Posted January 16, 200817 yr I have a set of 8 Ohm Solo Baric subs I am looking to run on a Mono Amp. I used to have a set of Solo's that were 4 ohm that I ran on a US 1000x. Can't remember what the setup was but I know I had a neg from one sub running to pos to the other sub, then one terminal pos going to the pos on amp and neg going to the amp. Is that just a bridge Mono? Would that have been at 1 ohm? My question is, If I do that on my 8 ohm subs what Ohm rating will I be at. and also what is the exact wiring configuration. I am having an extremely hard time finding a US 1000x amp. I am considering running a JL500/1 does anyone have any other amps they like, I am going towards a SQ setup, not looking to rattle my fillings loose. I guess thats why I likeed my US Amps because I could really hit but I had one hell of a clear sound at the same time. Any opinions would be appreciated
January 17, 200817 yr Admin If you have two 8 ohm subs, they will only be able to be wired in 16 ohms mono or 4 ohms mono or even 8 ohms stereo. An amp that goes 500-1000 watts at 4 ohm mono would be the best direction to go.

Thanks
January 23, 200817 yr You'll wire it in Parallel.both positives to the positive on the amp and both negatives to the negative on the amp.
January 25, 200817 yr Author What would it put me at if I went from Left Neg on the sub to the Right Pos on sub and then Left Pos to the left amp and right Neg to the right speaker on the amp. I think thats how I used to do it. I would have to pull up the archives up on the US amps site. I used to have a diagram. Sorry if this seems like such a dumb question, but I have been away from the audio world for about 3 years now. Have not hooked anything up for about 5

Sorry if this seems like such a dumb question, but I have been away from the audio world for about 3 years now. Have not hooked anything up for about 5that's called series, and using 8 ohm subs would get you to 16 ohm. and far out of any amps power producing capabilities. of course, you'd never burn an amp up, lol.when you did that with your old subs, you were at 8ohm, and it was probably done to protct them from too much power.if you grab the jl 500/1, wire them up in parrallel like previously mentioned, and each sub will live happily with the 250wrms each they will get.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
