Posted January 22, 200817 yr Hi. I was just wondering what the best 4x6 front door speakers would have to be in your opinions. What I am dealing with is the following:2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT Stock Monsoon Sound System2 Kicker Comp 12sKicker ZX750.1 Mono AmpKicker 4 Gauge Wiring KitKicker Rear 6x9sAnd now all I need is the front two stock door speakers replaced. I was wanting something with a high rms wattage but good quality as well. I was thinking the Kicker 4x6s since everything else I have is Kicker, but is there something better? I, personally, like Kicker, but I am looking for the best of the best here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Edited January 22, 200817 yr by Room_Nine
January 22, 200817 yr but I am looking for the best of the best here.So cut out the hole a little for a 5.25" midbass and use a seperate component set, and go DIY.
January 22, 200817 yr clarion has a badass 4x6 plate speaker, but i can't remember the model number. it has a true 4" midrange with a 3/4" silk tweeter, IIRC.of course the kickeer stuff isn't nothing to sneeze at, lol.i also like the memphis mclass 4x6. with the swivel tweeter, it'll be farily easy to adjust some of the staging.lastly, with the monsoon system, are you sure it's a 4x6 up front?wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
January 23, 200817 yr i had 4x6's in my s10 but i would recommend going with a 5.25 or a good plate 4x6. i no infinity, Memphis, pioneer, and a few others made plates.
January 23, 200817 yr Author First of all, I know that Kicker isn't the best sh!t out there. At the time, that's all I could afford. However, if you read reviews about people with the ZX750.1 with the two Kicker Comp12s, you would be surprised. It does pound like hel| and, in fact, I am in need of a power cap. But I am soon to sell the Kicker setup (and rewire the 4 guage power as it is fu*kin' up my driver side door) to Memphis. But back to the topic. According to Crutchfield.com, my front door speakers are 4x6 (even with the Monsoon System). I think I'll just check out some Memphis and Infinity products. Also, the whole cutting, drilling, and such...I'm not a pro at. I'm not even about to fu*k up my new (to me) car, so if there are any 4x6 speakers that install easily and are of good quality, specifically suggest some more. Thanks for the help and thanks in advance. January 23, 200817 yr i thought i did suggest some specifically? and only switch from kicker to memphis if the memphis sounds better to you. personally, the kicker stuff is better quality. memphis quality has been going downhill here recently. not to say they are a bad company, but they used to be better.seriously look into that clarion plate 4x6, it's a beast. i'll see if i can't dig up a model number. and stay away from infinity, unless your into replacing them all teh time.http://audiovideodimension.com/index.php?m...9481bbd4af3eaa6wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
January 23, 200817 yr Admin None of the experienced members here will suggest getting a cap for your system. They can actually cause to harm then good. Read up on the BIG 3, and look into a superior deep cycle battery.
January 23, 200817 yr None will recommend using 4x6's either. It is well worth the money to pay someone to put in 5.25's at least as none of the 4x6's sound like anything other than chit.

January 23, 200817 yr there really is no such thing as best 4 x6 speaker...its all just personal preference...and since you like kicker so much i say dump the comps and pick up an l7...with the right box you can get some good bass from that woofer...
January 23, 200817 yr i'll agree and say you would be much better off by DIY and getting some 5 1/4"s
January 25, 200817 yr Putting 5 1/4's or even 6's in a Grand AM's doors is retardedly easy. When you take the panel off the 4X6's are mounted in a pod that could easily hold a larger speaker; GM probably just needed to get rid of all the old stock 4X6's so they ended up in there. I did an install in a newer Grand Am a while back, I pulled the door panel and the pod, traced the pod onto some 3/4 MDF jigsawed it out and put the 5 1/4 cutouts in them, job done in under 2 hours.
January 25, 200817 yr If you are dead set on 4X6s then I would recommend checking out the Soundstream Tarantula 4X6, by far the best I have ever heard.
January 26, 200817 yr this could be some helpful info for ya http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=9
