I am looking into getting some new subs but I am stumped on what to go with. I want sq over spl. I would need 2 12's that would go in a sealed box. I also would be running from around 1000-1500 watts. My bugget is $500 for both subs. I have looked at the fi q, si mag, re se, rd classic, and infinity perfect. I could get each company new except for the si mags they'd need to be used for my price. If anyone has any suggestions please respond.

Used SI Mags from the last generation would be my choice out of all you listed. Almost-perfect sealed box drivers with that kind of power.

Don't know if you'd be willing to go SX 15's?

I have a pair of them, 1's brand new ...other is lightly used.

$400 for the pair plus shipping. Fs is 27.8 on them, they'd do nicely for what you want. Let me know. :cookiemonster:

re sx's sq isnt that good. plus dont think 2 15's will fit in a bmw 325ci trunk. But hey I hope you have good luck selling them.

SX's are way too peaky to be easily used in a situation like this...

I also recommend against the SXs for SQ. I second Jim's suggestion for the Mags.

And I agree, not really an all out SQ Subwoofer, but it isn't full blown SPL either. Just a suggestion, but it's kewl. :)

Yea I have read a lot of good things about the mags. So does anyone have 2 12's they want to sell?

If you really like the MAG's, the Fi Q's are a great option. If not, used IDMAX's, SSA Icons, used Eclipse 8200LMS, SS RL-p (yes they spec out like ported only subs, but they do well sealed also). There are a few soild choices that fall into the sealed SQ sub category that can handle some power.

The MAG's are not out yet, but they should do very well in a small box, not sure if a Mach5 IXL 12 will get made or not, but the 15's and 18's are reviewing really well. Also the JLW6 is a good choice, but I would worry about it on that much power. One of my all time favorites is the Crystal CMPx2, but there are mixed feelings from people about giving that driver less then 1000 watts and sealing it.

The Fi Q would be my second choice if I cant get my hands on a mag. I havnt heard much about the others that you listed tho. I am about to buy a orion 2500d so the subs would need to be able to handle it. I am also curious to what the bp power upgrade is for the Q.

the rl-p would be a great choice with that power and sealed, i loved mine in 1.25ft^3 net.

the previous gen mag is agreat SUBwoofer. make sure your mids are up to par. teh mag will give you everything you need down low!

the icon is a beast, but much like the rl-p, is much more at home ported. sq wise, they both are great sealed, but do they ever come alive (output wise) ported

the classic is a good sealed box performer, but it seems the company is getting a rep for being a bit shady. mostly over not providing t/s specs pubicly. not sure if that's settled or not, but it's enough of an issue to steer clear.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

the q's have a good review, i run 2 out a ported box tuned to 32hz, but ive heard q's in sealed they still get really low and the sq is amazing

still cant find the post about the bp power option for the Q. If any one knows please reply.

Bp Power:

just finished adding a new option for the SSD and Q series subs.

This new option adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel all of the air under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. To aid with this increased airflow we also add 6 axial cooling channels in the top plate. Along with increased thermal capacity comes the addition of an extra spider and a changed spider pack for a little extra mechanical ability.

All of these new features increase power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application.

Its just another way of tuning and tailoring your subs to your exact needs.

ok so I am thinking about going with 2 12 Q's with the dual 1 ohm for each and also the bp power option on both. Then wire the coils in series and the speakers in parallel for a 1ohm final load to the orion 2500d. Now would this be to much for a sealed box? I would be using this as a daily setup.

That would easily overpower anything but the most extreme front stages

LSQ still has all the features of SQ, just louder, it still has a properly set up front stage, and a sub that blends with the front and is not overbearing

if you're looking for louder in the sub-bass regions with a decent sounding front, that's another thing entirely, and easily acomplishable

well I want to accomplish that then. Sorry I am new to all of this. So where should I start looking?
