If I choose to invert my subwofer so that the magnet is outside of the box, shoould the box be any different than if it were mounted regularly?

You could take into account the negligible difference in displacement. That's about it though.

Would it be louder with the sub inverted or traditionally mounted?

i have allways thought that you needed a LARGE ported box to make an inverted box worth it,...

i did a inverted box one time on an old hollywood labs excusion 12, great sound inverted,

like i said i just allways thought.

Thoughts & reality are different though ;)

There will be NO difference at all, besides perhaps a touch more mechanical noise, dependant on the driver.
