February 14, 200817 yr Judgeing by the pics on ampguts...It seems like it has a pretty iffy processor and if you blow the amp (and the processor blows) it's one of those hard to find parts.I'd rather have something along the lines of an Atomic 5000.1, AB 500.1, IA 40.1
February 16, 200817 yr What is "Through Hole Technology"?Just what the name states. The components are mounted through a hole, then soldered to the traces, whereas surface-mount is what it's name implies.Clif Designs is an Audiobahn product, so take what you want from that.
February 16, 200817 yr Through-hole, Mahattan-style, dead bug, SMD...all useful for various things.Although when you're fixing things, having resistors you can actually read color codes off of kicks ass compared to surface mount.
February 16, 200817 yr Hey guys! Im new here and came acroos this thread so I thought Id respond.Actually, Im living in Seoul, South Korea and know the manufacturer of the Clif Design models. I got one for myself at a SWEET discount and the owner was kind enough to give me a tour. Learned a lot.Turns out I dont live too far from their HQ's here in Seoul. They supply for Clif Designs as well as the Italian amp company that uses the same board.I was able to get this amp real cheap however it was in their OWN Korean badged heatsink. Everything else is the same.If anyone needs info/help on this model, lemme know I never used my amp yet so I dont know its strong/weak points. Thanks!
March 5, 200817 yr i just want to pop in and say these aren't an audiobahn product, but an ma audio product
March 6, 200817 yr the new design is pretty decent but not cheap, i have spoken to the build house and they are a top company, they build for many top brands and ive actualy posted a picture before from the buildhouse with all their brands in, it may have been stolen from another forum basshurtz uses actualyand whilst MA and Cliff designs used to use the same boards for some of there lines the are moving more apart and becoming independent, the new cliff lines are actualy very good
March 6, 200817 yr Just for the record, I HATE fixing anything with SMT. Through hole is the easiest to work with IMHO.
June 14, 201114 yr I am currently running this model. Great Amp!! capable of easy doing 7,000 + on 17.5 volts and lots of current. I have it running at 16.5 volts and subs are seeing 6500 watts.
