Posted February 14, 200817 yr Scott,I know you have been sick and really really busy trying to get caught up. Just to let everyone know I am not starting this topic to bust your balls or anything. I just need to get in touch with you. I would like for it to be over the phone so I can explore my options here for recones of BTL 18's but I would like a custom recone for my application. My e-mail is [email protected] if that is possible please let me know....Thanks,Brock
February 14, 200817 yr Author What kind of application is it going to be for?Thanks!-NickWell where to start.....2004 Monte Carlo Walled off with 2 18" drivers. 8 Ft ^ 3 per driver 100 in^2 per driver and tuned at 40 hz with about 3000 watts to them with the fully loaded options we had it doing a 152.5 reality metering meca style. What I am looking for is to raise the FS of the sub. I have 2 loaded btl motors sitting here....and no beats lol you see my problem. Enough to drive a bass head like me crazy. I really would like to get in depth with options here because I cannot afford to do 3 or 4 recones this season...Thanks,Brock
February 15, 200817 yr Ill search emails to find yours... but we can shift the FS around no problem. But in many applications for SPL, FS isnt much of an issue. The reason we stack on more spiders is for mechanical durability for extreme power applications. Often shifting coils and motor strength in lower powered setups has more to do with the peak than suspension (90% of the time). What was the failure mode on the last subs? This will help me look in different directions as well. Thanks,Scott

Not all the way threw so we couldn't see it right off the bat. but it still wasn't reading a consistant impedence until I tested after the tear. There is a couple of different approaches I am considering from here. Option one would be recones to the current 2 18" which are fully loaded and I got these before the universal option was out. I am in a wall so the lower tuning really isn't the way to go for me. I actually gained on the low end when I raised the tuning to 40 hz. The limition of the last setup was about 26 hz at about 150 but it loses alot after that and the higher freq. struggled until I applied more power and it still wasn't able to keep up with the lows. Another option is to add a third 18 with all custom recones and going into a higher class but money comes into play. It will most likely be done at a later time so hope that a few months from now so if you could still duplicate whatever it is we do that would be great. Raising the FS was just one of the ideas that has come across it actually came from DB Don. I feel that with all that being considered and the lower power application it would be best for a 3 or 4 soft spiders and a lighter weight cone and dust cap if that is possible. I didnt want to run 2 or 3 stiffs with the possiblity of then cracking. Bottom line is no one knows your product better then you so I want to run it by you and get a little help so to speakThanks,Brock Edited February 15, 200817 yr by 30 Hurtz
February 15, 200817 yr Author Sorry if it took me so long to get back to you work was a little crazy. Just letting you know I understand this is a little more time consoming then ordering a BTL and there isn't a next day air rush on it from my side.
February 29, 200817 yr Author Scott or Nick,As I cannot afford to miss any comps or really wait any longer. It appears that I will have to settle with 5 softs on a regular btl recone with the hixmax and dual 1 I need 2 of these with baskets shipped to zip 61920. If you could give me the price to e-mail d_banner87@hotmail(dot)com. It would be great. Brock
