August 26, 200421 yr holy crap, what caused that? No kidding!Fire some bolts through that or what, shit lol.- Steve
August 26, 200421 yr Author Ha! I didn't do it. Blame the driver, not the wrench. Got up to the line, engaged the tranny brake, went to launch and "BOOM!"Can't complain for 2 years worth of service with not so much as a single tear-down in the offseasons. This motor's been so good. Haven't had to do anything to it for 2 seasons other than change the oil and plugs. No complaints here. What's really cool is that the #5 and #6 con rods were perfectly twisted around one another. Think we'll be using a forged crank this time around.
October 15, 200420 yr Hey TireFryrWhat type of car do you run down the 1/4 mile? What times are you posting up?My Slow Kota used to do 18.5's!! talk about a dog. Did some minor things and got her to the middle 17's, hoping to have my truck in the middle 14's after im done with the mods.BTW, nice crank shaft failure.
October 15, 200420 yr i wanna see close up pics of the rods twisted together...lol...NOW!hehewheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
October 16, 200420 yr Author I don't have any other pics of the rods twisted together, however, I don have the one that was still attached to the piston sitting in my bedroom as a keepsake. The car here is a 72 Camaro. All steel baby. I'm not the driver, just a lousy crew member. Lord knows you couldn't PAY me to drive a GM. They make pretty good winter beaters though. And I have to give GM some props on the 3.8s. Those motors never want to die!
