Hi all!

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram Quad cab. These things are impossible for trying to put in subs without pulling out seats and all kinds of stuff (not interested in). Found a guy who makes a specific "molded" box that goes underneath the rear seats.

I really want to go with the Fi Q 12", heard really good things about the Q's and I prefer 12's over 10's for the notes they hit. However, this box has a single chamber totalling 1.8ft^3 in a sealed setup for a 12". Will the .9 - displacement per sub be enough to adequately run? How much polyfil should I use?

He also makes a 10" vented @ 36hz and 10" sealed. The airspace would be the same as the above box. Would it really sound that much better to go down to the 10" just for the extra airspace requirements the 12" has?

Please direct me! Trying to get the best SQ while having the most SPL I can. These will be powered by a SAZ-3000d sundown.

In case you are interested here is teh page with the different boxes:

12's and 10's can hit the same notes. The main difference between the two sizes is often the box requirements.

The .9^3ft you have to work with is a little big for the 10" sealed, it would be great for the 12" even with no polyfill. You can always add some if the box sounds too "punchy" for you.

I would suggest getting the Dual 2 ohm woofers and then wire them to the Sundown at 2 ohms. Or add the BP option per sub and purchase the Dual 1 ohm subs.

thanks for the info. I definitely plan on going for the BP option and 1 ohm. I was not looking at the .9 for 10" sealed, but .9 for the 10" vented....

oh, that'd be fine for the 10". It is ported a little high though, I would ask him to tune a bit lower if at all possible.

already asked, since these are created from molds and are basically high resilience plastic, it cost him $8000 to have a new mold created so no changes are possible.

What would happen if I ran 550w to each of the 12" until I could get the electrical upgraded for the saz-3000d? I have a dei 1100d runs 1100 @ 1 ohm, have not tested to see if over / underrated (do not even know how to do that).

As long as you're not clipping the amp, the subs will be fine with 550w ea.
