Hey Scott, Nick or Shawn.. I recently pulled my 15" BTL out of my truck to build a new box and buy a new amp. Its just been sitting and today i go to move it and the coil is rubbing. It was fine when removed so is it possible something got down into the gap? Is there anyway to gain access to the pole vent by removing the screw on the bottom or no? Just let me know if I'm pretty much screwed. The coil isnt burnt looking at all just rubbing out of the blue now. Let me know guys, thanks

Doug

Dual 1 or dual 2?

Any other options on it?

Sorry, dual 2, fully loaded, universal and daily.

Just some more info, the sub is a dual 2 and both coils read 1.5 so obviously its not blown so something must be stuck in the gap. this is real chitty.

Not necessarily. Dual 2 ohm coils will read 1.5ohms DCR. The coils are fine.

I know they are actually 1.4 thats why i said something has to be in the gap because the coils read perfect. Thats why I'm gonna be so pissed if I have to have this reconed and I know its not even blown.

Do you think I could try I shot of compressed air in the cooling vents?

Does it when you push down on it?

If so, you could be pushing one side harder than the other.

Try pushing down on the center of the dustcap.

LOL, ok, i appreciate you trying to help but i know how to push on a cone and i know what my speaker should or should not feel like. It wasnt rubbing when removed from my car, now it is. Thanks though

ROFL.

If your so smart, why post?

Theres no way to access the vent pole, cause their isn't one.

Only way to fix is to recone.

Good luck. :D

Wow thanks for nothing buddy. Why post?? maybe to get help from people that actually know what they are talking about but thanks for playing bye bye.

Can't help ignorance.

Thought your BTL had a vent pole, even if it did, still wouldn't do any good.

If you got something in your gap, u can't get it out until you cut the sub open.

Lucky you.

Again please just move along, you dont even know what you're talking about. Please quit cluttering my thread with mindless dribble. since you cant help, just quit posting. Thanks.

OK, nothing I said was pointless.

Your options since u can't read.

1) Recone it.

2) Play it as is

3) Hope and pray, you can somehow, get whatever is in the gap out, Without doing option 1.

Have you dropped the sub?

The t-yoke could have shifted, if it was dropped.

Which I don't see this happening, just stating more mindless posts, cause I know nothing.

Nope sub was not dropped, motor isnt shifted. Its really frustrating. It literally wasnt rubbing one day and was the next, this is honestly the kind of luck I have. I'll have to call Scott and just send the damn thing to him to go over it. Thanks again for help.(no sarcasm intended)

seeing as your new and dont have too many posts and ford302redneck is a little bit more established and wasnt trying to center you out or be mean.... i would try and be a little bit more respectful. hes just trying to help you, dont post for help and then get smart when some one makes a suggestion. besides, you obviously arent too much of a regular or else you would realize people do indeed do VERY stupid stuff so you would understand why hes just trying to make sure you press on the center of the dust cap or if you dropped it.

My amount of posts on here mean absolutely nothing. This is FI's forum thats why its posted here. If you re-read my posts I was not being disrespectful I just take it for granted people arent going to suggest stupid ideas like making sure I push on the center of the cone, I mean come on. I know most of you dont know me on here and therefore dont know how much I know or dont know and thats fine. Thats why i kept saying thanks for trying to help. I'm aware how stupid some kids can be and these bases need to be covered. Again thanks so far to those that have tried to help. But i guess I'll have to call Scott and have him send me a recone.

That was my point in bold. I didn't mean to make you feel stupid, just coving the basics first.
