Ive been looking into subs for a few months now and i still dont understand alot of it. just got my liscence and am bound to get a car soon. basically i want something that would be really really loud but i dont have unlimited money. i litsen to pretty much all rap and hip-hop. i was lookin at getting one 15" btl cause it seems like one of the best out there. if i were to get this what would you recomend as far as an enclousure and amp and anything else. if you think theres a better sub or something different i should get im up for all suggesrtions. thanks in advance

a btl would be fine but i doubt you'll want to spend the necessary money on an amp wiring and electrical to back it up.

How much do you have to spend as far as budget? That would help us greatly in making a suggestion for you.

But like Vladd said, if you on a limited budget, a 15" BTL will require a high amp amplifier and a beefy electrical system to power it correctly.

yeah i dont know how much exactly im gonna be workin with cause im gonna be makin it all in the future. im gonna be buying all this in the future. how much do you think everything else would cost if im gonna get a 15" btl

More than you expect is about all I can say...

To give you some perspective. I have a 15" FI Q series sub, a 1000wrms Cadence amp, a custom 2.7cuft sealed box, and necessary hookups. In all I've spent about $800 or so. Did I mention I still need some RCAs and maybe an alternator?

With your BTL I can see you spending $1000+ easily.

If you go low-buck, there are other issues to consider. You will get more sound (per watt) out of an efficient driver using lower wattage, you can get more sound with 2, 3, 4 drivers also. Ported will be more efficient....so it can also depend your install/what kind of room you have. Class D takes a little less power too so you can have less electrical. Maybe you could figure what size amp you can run, then size the best sub(s)/enclosure to it to get the most? That is how I would look at it but I don't know how low your budget is.

I've run pyramids that pounded on 150rms and been very happy with them, but I just listen to music. You could hear them a mile down the road actually, but the install/car was perfect too. Was 4 10s IB. You can get a 150rms brand name amp for say $30-40 used if you shop hard, cheap subs like that are <$20ea but that particular one is not made now so not sure. But in most of my cars I could not make that setup work as well as that car design. With a single sub you will need much more power and obviously a better sub, or if you want huge volume. For my .02 I would get a good HU and front stage first and use the cheapest subs I could find if I were starting from scratch with no budget...but I guess if all you want is big subs then you spend what you can on subs alone. You should know that big power subs need big power to work right, so try not to plan on good subs and a large enough amp later on. I just sold a few 1Kw class d amps for about 100 each, unless you want new then these guys can tell you what to get. Also can you make a good box?

I see where this guy is coming from, in a sense. It really does help to have a system in mind, something planned out or at least and idea of what you want to work towards. He may not have the means to get it now or even a car to put it into but it just gives you something to look forward to and work for. Hell, I know a bangin' audio system would motivate me to make the grades or get up at 7am to go to work to pay for it. :) It's good to have goals.

Just make sure you're not setting yourself up for frustration though. A BTL is a massive sub, with massive power requirements and nothing about what I just said spells "cheap". Put the time in now doing your research, and it will pay off in the end. :)

I purchased a pioneer deh 4900HU, 15"MA audio 2000 RMS sub, Lanzar 4000 watt 2 ch amp, all online mostly amazon, paid 450 bucks for all of it including shipping. The reviews were awesome for all products, and were definitely a bank saver, if you are a playa on a budget jk, than all you really have to do is shop around, and be very patient till you find a bargain.

alright so after thinking about it for a while i am leaning towards a 15" bl and a hifonics BXi 1606D amp. it seems like it would be ideal for me but if anyone has any suggestions or comments that would be great. now i just have a few questions about some things. i dont really understand the difference between 1 and 2 ohms. and concerning the enclosure im going to try and get a ported one but i dont know what i should do about that. are there any for sale online that are any good? and do audio stores and/or best buy make custom enclosures? and finally it would be nice if someone could just list everything else i would need and on average how much it would cost. thanks so much for all the responses so far as well. and this would help me out a ton
