Posted March 20, 200817 yr I am looking for 2 LSQ subwoofers...Amplifier power: 2x strapped SAZ-1500DMinimum ohmage would be somewhere around 2 ohms.So the subwoofers will get approx. 1500W RMS each.I will be running them sealed, I do not like the ported sound.I used to own 2 RE XXX subwoofers (the first generation) and I really loved them. Unfortunately I had to sell them. But now I am back and want something similar in return. So can anyone give me good advice?[edit typos]Cannot edit my typos...I meant of course: S Q L subwoofers... March 20, 200817 yr Admin Welcome to SSA. I have the software auto edit "S Q L" to LSQ, because there really is no such thing as sound quality loud. But anyway, due you have a budget or size limitations? With that kind of power, I am thinking AA Havoc would be a good start, but don't know enough yet about your goal.
March 20, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the welcome.Ah okay... Figures about the LSQ part. Well I thought since I liked the old RE XXX, I was going to buy them again, but man... Their prices have increase... A lot!...they are way to expensive now.I just want to have 2 good subwoofers (like the old RE XXX 12" ones or similar). I don't have a real goal though. Hehe. Just want to buy something which will keep me satisfied. Some things to note; bass needs to be quick and not sloppy.//EditI wa taking a look at the Havoc subwoofers... Man they really look like the old RE XXX subwoofers! How do they perform sealed? And what is the best sealed enclosure for the Havoc subwoofers? Edited March 20, 200817 yr by Timber8
March 20, 200817 yr From what i have read in a few posts, the AA Havoc one ups the Fi Q a little. I have never heard a Havoc but the Q is a very nice sounding driver, much like the xbl2 XXX, but probably not as loud. I would say one of those two speakers would be a good contender for what you want. However I just re-read your OP, and i see you want to run sealed. I don't know if i have really read anything about sealed Havocs but i have read and heard the Qs sealed and they do well. I am sure the Havocs have the ability to do so also. Hope this helps a bit.
March 20, 200817 yr Two strapped 1500D's is way, way, way, way, way more power than you'd ever need in that situation.
March 20, 200817 yr 2 1500's would be perfect for a pair of havocs, it would be too much for a Q tho in my opinion. You would be in complete control of ur chit if u went with the havocs being that they take 1250rms. I will be running one havoc 15 on a 1500d very soon.
March 20, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the answers... ...but do the Havocs perform good in a sealed application? And what size enclosure should they be in? Hopefully not to big, cause I do not have a lot of trunk space. :S

March 21, 200817 yr They would both work in a sealed alignment. I modeled them out in BBP6 and the Q has a lower f3 point than the Havoc, however i think you either would work. Maybe a little EQing to "touch up" the low end but it wouldn't need it. I hope that helps. If anyone has any conflicting findings. Let me know, I am still learning BBP6.

It's going the wrong way down Hoffman's Iron Law...
March 21, 200817 yr just a side note the q and havoc are designed by the same person who did the originall xxx

I only powered them with approx. 800W RMS each in a sealed anclosure. But I could even feed them 1600W RMS each without problems.Well I will wait a few days and see if someone else can come up with a good idea. Otherwise I will do some more research on which subwoofers to buy...
March 21, 200817 yr I'd say run two of either the Q or Havoc with one Sundown. Sell one to use towards buying these speakers or save one for when needed
March 21, 200817 yr the xxx was a very very nice driver, could easily take 1500wrms. you said that you were looking into the xxx but price has jumped, but are you looking at the "new" xxx or old? the old was xbl2 while the new is very different and VERY power hungry you might consider just one new xxx with both 1500d strapped to it, although im not sure how it does sealed. so now some questions are you looking for brand new drivers or used? the havoc and q are good but there are ome other options you could look into. like maybe some dc sounds lv4, adioque hdc3, IA death penalty(although quite exspensive), soundsplinter rl-s, maybe some ssa icons although with 1500wrms you'd have to careful. of course all these are new if you want to by used there are some more to look at but here are some options.
March 22, 200817 yr Author Uhm.... I am tempted to look into 2 AA Havoc subwoofers in a sealed enclosure. Do they perform good?

March 22, 200817 yr Look into the Audiopulse Revo series subwoofers. They all have a rating of 1500 wrms and are more of a SQ sub
