Posted March 29, 200817 yr i have an IA40.1 and 2 15" DP's,, i can wire them at 1 ohm or even a quarter ohm,, and still when the music starts to hit ,, it says im runnin at 5 to 6 ohms.. what am i doing wrong? or is that normal??
March 29, 200817 yr Author it seems to be hittin in the low 140's .. i dont think its loud enuff for that setup, but then again it just might be me, the subs hardly move.. but if thaz not enuff power then ill look into a second 40.1 ,, one for each sub Edited March 29, 200817 yr by cheapaudio
March 29, 200817 yr measure the subs with the stereo off, measuring with them on will give you off the wall results.IF you are wondering if you got them wired right, always measure with stereo off.IF you are wondering why resistance is so high when playing something, that's rise.
March 29, 200817 yr im using a digital multimeterYou cant measure resistance in a circuit with power applied. You need a clamp meter and multimeter to calculate resistance in the circuit with applied power.
March 29, 200817 yr Author yea i did with power off ,, im not good on wiring configs.. but i think i got them in series so that just one pos and one neg go to the amp.. and it reads 1 ohm at the end,,, but then when turned on its still 1 ohm... but when i turn the music up it goes to a lil over 5 ohms..
March 30, 200817 yr lol.. yea it suckks,, guess its time for the second ampWhat ohms are your subwoofers? I think the wiring is just messed up. I don't know how you can wire 2 subs to 1 or 1/4 ohm.I think you have it wired to 4ohms. Edited March 30, 200817 yr by TooLoud4You

March 31, 200817 yr If he has dual 1's, he would series each woofer, then parallel them at the amp.......1 ohm final
March 31, 200817 yr Author well, i do have dual 1 ohm subs,, its probably just me,,, there hittin round 146 to 148 on the TL...
March 31, 200817 yr That is why I am running my 40.1's at 0.35 DCR. With rise, they are up near 1 ohm. . .Have not had any problems so far.
March 31, 200817 yr you shoulda jumped on the meter at the show it may just be you I know mine dose over a 147 and it dosnt seem that loud
March 31, 200817 yr Author yea i was there,, but i forgot my wallet,, plus i didnt stay long it was cold and rainin,,,
