Ok, so after talking to others, it has come down to these two. I want to compete, probably only ever gonna be local comps. I know i prob will not beat my friends ranger (a wall with RE 18's, cant SX's I think) but I wanna beat these guys the say Kicker are the best subs ever created. At the moment I have a RF4000.1 sitting around I got from a shop that closed down for pretty much nothing. I am doing a blow through in an 08 Ford F-150 FX2. Here is my tough decision. I can run this one amp and push 4 12" BL's or I can get 2 15" BTL's when the new models come out, and when money is good, do even more electrical upgrades and get a 2nd RF4000 for and seperate one RF4000 per each sub. Either way, I am pretty sure the 2 15's even off the 1 amp will be hella loud. The 2 15's would probably also take up less room and be easier to work with. What do you guys think?

Like I said, once I get this last thing here figured out I will be good to go. I know I have been a pain in the azz, but you guys really are helpin me out a ton and I appreciate it.

To answer before it gets asked, I am getting ready to order a 300amp alt. I should be getting a spool of 0gauge wire in soon to do big 3 and such. Finally, I have a local Kinetik dealer who is gettin me a battery for a good price. Next week I should have a yellow top to put under the hood. When the time comes for the second amp if I go that route, I will have two more batteries waiting for me and will be thinking about running 2 alts.

Fully loaded BL's, more cone area to move more air, and a fully loaded BL has better SQ than a BTL. Either way, two rf4000.1 will be able to push either setup quite hard.

How much "SPL" would be lost if I were to use 4 Q's instead of BL's. Since, either way, they would see 1k watts each, would they produce about the same results?

if we knew answers like that, what's the point of competing?

The BL is suppose to be louder than the Q.

LOL! Good point. From my personal assumptions, I would think the Q's lose a little SPL but add a little more SQ.

I cant even lie though, at this point, I know I want rid. loud. I would love to do hair tricks and junk. I would love to do 4 12" BTLs but that would require getting 2 RF4000's and doin all the electrical upfront....something I dont think I am quite that ready for. I just wanna be super loud and super happy.....

I have a RF4000 at the moment, BUT if anyone, esp u JimJ, have any better amp suggestions then plz throw them out there. Maybe something like 2 3k watt amps or something. Or will the RF4000 be plenty. Regardless I am getting all the options on the subs.

I think I will be going with the 12's. Sadly enough, I actually dreamed about the 15's last night. In the dream, they sounded great, but I realized one thing. The blowthrough isn't all that big of a hole in the back. Either way I am going to have to rip a seat out, but the kicker is, it is a lot easier to pull a 12 out through the blowthrough than a 15. My current trucks blowthrough is only 10" tall. It wouldn't be to bad, but it would be enough to piss me off more than I may wanna deal with.

Plus, I am not entirely sure if I really wanna worry about doing more electrical upgrades later.

Q's actually move more air than any other line, they just don't handle the same amount of power. It is an SQ woofer. If only sticking to that one amp, I'd say get 4 12" Q's and seal them, port if you want, but sealed would be awesome SQ, and if you do sealed do not get the BP power option, it will stiffen the suspension too much, if you do ported get the BP power option so that you can wang on them a little harder. IMO 4 12" off that RF4000.1 is the way to go, You will be amazed what you will be able to do, and I would def. say hairtricks would be accomplished with ease, just build a good box.

oh yes I suppose I should explain why Q's move more air, they have a larger Xmax, so 4 12's which would give you more cone area, and Q's which have the 27 mm xmax will def. move more air off the same power as 2 15" BTL's. no question about it.

Hm, an answer with some "added facts" behind it. I like that. One other person IM me as well backing the Q's despite his using the BTL's. I usually hear BTL users/lovers only back that, rarely saying a Q, lol.
