After hearing many good things about eD on certain forums (cough ICIX) I finally broke down and ordered a 13Ov.2...luckily I caught one during the $70 promotion, so I definitely didn't pay full price. It arrived today (still waiting on the sealed 1.25cu box) and I decided to look into the company some more...came across this forum after looking at some ascendant audio products-lets just say that I know why you guys hold a grudge against eD now. I haven't listened to the sub yet, but I'm sure it'll be a HUGE improvement over the generic 10" that's in my car right now...are these things really that bad? I would have bought an assasin 12" from AA had SSA not stopped carrying their products :(

I'm already looking at replacements. I currently have a alpine mrd-m605 (650w rms) and I have been looking at 12s in the $200 range...ssa icon 12 (slightly above my price range), aa arsenal 12, fi ssd 12 are on my list right now.

I am a metalhead, so I am looking for a mostly musical sub-something that will compliment the music well but will still give me griding low tones and punchy double bass hits. I guess sort of a compromise between spl and sq?

Help me!

The subs themselves aren't that bad...but the customer service is enough to keep me from ever buying one.

I will give it a good listen when the box arrives and judge it fairly...but from what I've gathered reading this forum, my expectations are really low.

very good subs for money. good sq and good range of bandwidth, decent output and all in all good sub for cash especially for 70$. as said cs sucks. that about only draw back. send the sub 550 watts.

hmm..there seem to be a lot of different opinions here. My box should arrive today...I will rig it all up if I can. What should I be setting the crossover at? 65hz? The sub is again in a sealed 1.25cu box...

The sub it self is not bad. It is the company/people behind it that are staying in business because of it. Honestly, it is not a grudge because the problems are still there. I believe it was Rudeboy, on another forum say something along the lines of, it is hard to get rid of a bad image if you keep doing bad things.

But based on your post above, a Fi SSD might be the way to go if you decide to try a different sub woofer.

the reason i never got 1 was Bad Cs reputation....

i work closely with the builders/Owners of the Co i prefer, Pap

but i agree you own it so make the best of it :)

ill eat burnt food and smile if i get great CS...

its raining outside so the install will have to wait until tomorrow. :(

should invest in a carport...nice as hell for the unexpected rainy days.

Unless you have a home owners association that does not allow it.

My parents have a 2 car garage. They just got their driveway repaved a couple of days ago, however, so I can't drive into the garage. Unfortunate, isn't it :(

OMG....

dropped the sub in, tuned and tweak, damn thing makes my eyes water with the gain barely turned up  I can't believe how loud and punchy it is in a sealed box...I can't even imagine putting it in a ported box-that would be truly overkill. I'd estimate this sub is about 4x as loud as my old 2x10" setup, and that's with the gain barely turned up.

Jesus christ!

awesome! lots of ed hate around (justifiable!) but im ALWAYS happy to see some one happy with there system!

what size box do you have it in and how does it sound for metal? my best friend is really into lamb of god/in flames/36 crazyfist type of stuff and his birthday is coming up, wanted to get him something for his car. maybe these would be worth looking into?

It's in this box: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=330234964155

A friend and I tuned the sub/box optimally for metal listening-the double bass hits are very loud and tight, and the sub is extremely punchy. After about a minute with the volume cranked it knocked my rear view mirror out of place. I swear to god it sounds like the sound is coming from a ported box, except for the fact that it's tight as hell. I can't even begin to fathom what this sub would sound like in a ported box with the same amount of power (~600w) pumped through it. Wow.

I would still recommend something from Ascendant Audio over an eD for metal, but the eD is definitely a great sub. I don't think they are worth the full price ($175), but if you can find one cheap like I did it's well worth it. I got mine for $70+$20 shipping because eD was having a clearance.

a decent $90 shipped sub is always a good thing, lol. and once again, it's not always the product that gives eDuh it's bad name, it's the dumbass running the show. from early product problems to his nuthugger required forum (i think smd is catching up on this point), ben has been an ass to a great many people. that said..

glad to hear you're liking it so far. update us as time goes on.

visitor, keep it civil.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

I'm sure the subs are good, they probably stole the design from some other reputable manufacturer like they've been known to do before. I used to have some flat cone 12k's and they were pretty good. Well, once I got them. I preordered in like March and they said they'd be out in May or something. I think I got them in July.
