are the ixl 15s more of a spl sub? Whats a good amp to power it?

Nope. It will get pretty darn loud for you if you want though.

Regarding amps, I cannot make many direct recommendations other than what I read from others. Some surprises that come to mind are Crunch and Autotek. Zapco perhaps? I guess it all depends on what you are willing to pay for, but look for something that can deliver up to 1100 watts into a 1 Ohm load.

Best,

Mark

The SPL12 and SPL15 are his SPL subs, the IXL is a good all around performer.

Any amp that does 800-1100w at 1 or 4 ohms will be good candidate.

My Arc Audio 2500CXL would match up nicely to it.

amp also depends on how many ixl's your going to run.. if your running 1 then go with what they are saying but if your running 2 ixl's then look into amps that do the same power at 2 ohms.

I would only get one 15. Id use it for daily use. would this be a good choice if I just listen to rap. I was watching videos of the maw 15s and they seemed to get loud

Im guessing with these amps I should look into a h.o. alt?

Put an IXL18 into my buddies 06 impala, sealed. Trunk car with no ventilation into the cabin really and it still rocks his car. Amazing subs all around, trust me you wont be dissapointed. If you have the space go ported, if not sealed will still rock you.

Is there any amps around $300 that would work well with this sub. How are the audioque amps

Edited by MP3

audioque is good stuff.. i'll let my amp go for 300 fyi does 1000rms @ 1 ohm and has been said to be under rated so probably more like 1100rms

I would also check with Jason Paul and see if there are any A7HC's left, or check the Sundown Audio b-stock list. Great choice on sub.

How does the IXL compare to the audioque HDC315?

The HDC315 is built for power... The ixl is most likely more efficient, and definitly will be more musical.

but it can still get pretty loud just not as loud as the HDC315?

What would be a good size ported box and a tuning hertz?

If it is volume you are after, you can use the same size box as per the recommendation but tune high - 36Hz or so. The recommended tuning of 28Hz is geared more for sound quality installs where folks wish to hear the sub through a majority of the passband with some augmentation by the port at lower frequencies.

Best,

Mark

Which of the sundown amps would you suggest the sae 1000D or the saz 1500D?
