Posted June 26, 200817 yr Admin > All new design <Now I am no ScottA or NickM or NickW etc. nor do I claim to or try to be, so I am curious as to how a certain someone came up with this in a working format, or is this another fancy wording job?
June 26, 200817 yr considering the sourece i don't know a lot, but that don't look like a neo motor to mesorry for the small pic, apparently i did something wrongthat is a 10" sub btw. Edited June 26, 200817 yr by johnecon2001
June 26, 200817 yr ^^^Gonna guess cooling...if the inner section of that is neodymium with a ceramic magnet around it, you can't tell me that the gap isn't far beyond saturated long before the ceramic magnet is added. I'm not an expert but if there is any neo in that motor, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it was wasted.I will say that the cones look cool.
June 26, 200817 yr I do like the "comex" as well. The basket and motors leave something to be desired though.
June 26, 200817 yr they look pretty in the cone side. Buisness end looks like cheep chinease. So many places do though.
June 26, 200817 yr I do like the "comex" as well. The basket and motors leave something to be desired though. The cone is nothing special, it's basically the same material TC sounds was using on a lot of their OEM drivers.
June 27, 200817 yr Author Admin If you read, it seems to me like the COMEX is just a glorified dust cap.
June 27, 200817 yr i bet it's just like the older subs, comex over poly cone. and the neo/ceramic hybrid? lol, it's ben.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
June 27, 200817 yr as soon as i seen it was ED i stoped reading. it seems its just one lie after another with these guys. haha.
June 27, 200817 yr Aaron you may be no scottA or any of the mentioned sub manufacturers but i am sure as hell confident you'd make a better sub then Ben could ever...Sorry never looked at the pics... I try not to give Ben any extra hits to his site... He may start to think he is better then he is... Oh wait he does think that...For those who think I am on the bandwagon of hating this company... I have history with them and there bullshit... First time i ever encountered an owner who would literally put down other products to make his shineAaron if you ever gave him a spot here on SSA... I'd ask for you to delete my account... He cut me deep
June 27, 200817 yr Aaron if you ever gave him a spot here on SSA... I'd ask for you to delete my account... He cut me deepdon't think that would happen even if ben offered up HUGE money. really HUGE money.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
June 28, 200817 yr Not implying that there was anything functional about the dustcap/cone, just that it looked cool. Just like the flatcone As looked cool.
June 28, 200817 yr I do like the "comex" as well. The basket and motors leave something to be desired though.agreed 100% the sad thing is- is even on there "glamour" shots shown, youi can visably SEE the cone/dustcaps not lining up/lifting/poor fitment.. sad really. The cone is nothing special, it's basically the same material TC sounds was using on a lot of their OEM drivers.this is SO wrong its not even funny. as an aside- the tc nomex is CRAP. VERY breakable:( so pretty though. i have a bunch of the cones here.. i refuse to use them whenbuilding drivers, and i wont in good faith sell em to some other poor sucker. they will only break. i had minor success with them when reinforcing them with ca glue on the back, but its just not worth the effort:( (i should note- i have the 12, 15, and 18" cones.. the 10" stuff may be ok.. not a lot of surface area to put the pressure against.. the 18's are AWFUL.)
June 28, 200817 yr What's up with the holes on the back plate?thats cooling, as im sure yuo can guess, but imma take a wild swing and say that you are talking the oddly placed hole.. that i have no idea. looks retarded

(maybe a few slivers that fell on the floor:laugh: .)
June 28, 200817 yr also- this is BEN'S claim as to how and why-Put it this way. 1st thing. The T/S specs are not identical from the Ov.2 to the e5. The box sizes are essentially the same but the e5 - Series you'll see will likely have a lower FS. As far as the e3 stuff goes. It's basically updated Kv.2 parts. It doesn't use Nio3 design. Only the e5.10 and e5.12 will.NeodymiumIntegratedobject(3) parts to the geometry that make it work 1. ceramic2. neo3. steelEverything is a trade off. This is just a easy way to introduce more B.Think of it this way.You want to increase xmax in a overhung design. How is this achieved? Increase the length of the coil. This pushes up Q. You want to bring it down. So you increase OD of the motor.Imagine you can increase xmax without raising Q or increasing OD of the motor. To do this you need to increase the amount of magnetic pull in some way.Imagine the ability just to get more motor force in a smaller motor by adding materials instead of just adding more of the same thing (increasing OD). You have Nio3.You can't just slap it in there. But do it right. You'll benefit. e5 is a good example."http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php...age=6&pp=10page 6.
June 28, 200817 yr The seemingly random hole on the back is not for cooling of the woofer. I talked to ben and he informed me that the random hole at the back is actually used to cool his new flux capacitor(located under the back plate) , it is smaller then the original and uses neodymium not plutonium. Instead of kicking in at 142km\hr (88 miles per hour) It kicks in at 142DB.It seems ben has solved time travel the only problem is, his driver will never produce 142 db. So dont plan on making a trip the grassy knoll just yet. Edited June 28, 200817 yr by ddeitz
June 28, 200817 yr Ben is a good salesman and nothing more. If you ever have an in depth conversation with him, you'll realize that everything he knows about drivers is what he is told by a designer or the buildhouse. An older CBFryman if you will. The problem for him, is this online community is so tight-knit, that everyone knows everyone, and that means everyone else knows all his bullshit. The difference is, the rest of the guys are pretty stand up. Now, we all know that their shallow drivers were originally proto-typed by TB and then Ben took this driver to a cheaper Chinese build house for them to copy, and claimed it for his own design. Everyone in the industry knows this, but you don't see those guys talking about it. It's all about class. Had that been the other way around, things would be quite different.I do feel sorry for the guy though as karma is a bitch.
June 28, 200817 yr but if it's not there how will the flux/nio3 capacitor get cooling?i like how he wanted people to ask about nio3, but then skirts the explaination when finally asked. as long as they will go boom, people will buy them.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
