Posted July 4, 200817 yr with shipping the hdc3 is 339 and the bl with the ups i need will also be 339.i am getting the hdc3 with copper coil... if thats what i get.i have an AQ2200 ampso i am wanting a pair of 18s.... i have been told great things about both subs. i had a BL a month ago and it was great. but i want to be smart about this and get what is best for what i am going to be doing to my car.the hdc has a xmas of 17-19 mm were the bl has like 21 i think.the bl also has a higher sensitity of 92.6 and the hdc3 has a sensitivity of like 89.somethingbut just because it has a higher xmas and sensitivity does it mean it will be louder?i am going to buy a pair of 18s but which one of these will have higher spl with the amp i have?what makes it better than the other? i don't want to hear how FI subs are the best ever just because u say so. i want some facts.
July 4, 200817 yr Author and! if u know of any other subs that may get higher spl for around the same price let me know! i really don't mind losing some LSQ Edited July 4, 200817 yr by deadrabit
July 7, 200817 yr Is that 1 2200D for 2 subs? If so I'd look into lesser subs as the HDC will take a 2200D per sub. Or 2 FI Q's off that power. If you plan on another amp, then the HDC's with copper or aluminum coil would be fine. Haven't heard a BL, only Q's and BTL's. I did an enclosure a while back for 2 18" HDC's off a 4k amp. Metered around 149 I think and SQ was very solid for daily. Crappy camera phone pic:
July 7, 200817 yr And I "assume" you're talking loud daily, not SPL comps. Off a single 2200D I'd get 2 18" Q's as it'll sound good, get low, and be loud... That's exactly how the 15" Q in my GF's car sounds off 1k, so you'd just have a LOT more of that
July 7, 200817 yr i have a q 18 and wished i got the bl but if your looking into a pair of 18's the bl is better for you than the hdc3. im not sure on pricing but the dc sound labs lvl 4 is a very good sub for your app. large box tuned around 38hz will slam lack a little lower end but be crazy loud if you weant more low end tune around 34hz
July 8, 200817 yr off 1 2200 you could get away with ssd's. it'd give ya a little headroom so you dont push ur amp into clippin also.
July 8, 200817 yr I'd say go with the BL's for sure. Its a better suited sub for the amp and those things will really slam
