Posted July 14, 200817 yr Alright, so I started my box build yesterday with a buddy of mine. It's 5.5 ft^3 roughly. It's sealed with a downfire mounted subwoofer. The subwoofer, as stated in the description, is a Dayton Reference HF 15" and will be powered by a Bash 500w plate amp. (4ohm)DAY 1It was about 90 degrees yesterday with 94% humidity. Needless to say, we were a little warm.Just some scrap that we used from my first box build.Just mocked it up.DAY 2Just had a little bit of time to work on it today. Here's a pic of the amp.And here is the only piece of wood I actually cut tonight. This is obviously the back plate.I plan on using an oak Formica to match my living rooms woodwork.
July 14, 200817 yr Looks like it is going good. Where did you get the Bash 500? And how much. I have everything I need for my HT sub except a plate amp. And does it have a Subsonic filter?Good luck with the rest and let us know how it turns out.
July 15, 200817 yr Admin PE has Bash amps. Looking good so far. I need to do the same thing for my MJ-18.
July 15, 200817 yr That is going to be a nice setup, in particular if you brace that box nice.aye , that's a big ole box. Couple braces to tie the sides together would be lovely

If it is a PE BASH amp, then yes it has an SSF and it comes from the factory set WAYYYYY to high. It's around 28hz or something. OK for a music only system but not a home theater sub. Especially not a sealed HT sub.-Robert
July 15, 200817 yr Author I got the holes cut out on the bottom baffle for the subwoofer. I finished that yesterday, so all my pieces are cut. I will glue a couple pieces together tonight and get some more pictures up.
July 15, 200817 yr Author Okay, I just had a few minutes and here is what I accomplished.Just a few shots of the sub, and another of the amp.
July 16, 200817 yr looks pretty good. Did you get some little feet or anything for the box to prop up on?
July 16, 200817 yr Author I didn't think about it when I ordered my other stuff, so I went to lowe's last night. They didn't have anything there, but I did find some tablesaw standoffs in my basement. Upon further consideration I may pick up some locking casters. If my dad ever needs to move the box there is no way in hell he will be able to do it by himself. Any other ideas, let 'em fly!
