Posted July 21, 200817 yr Iv been reading around to make the most hardcore enclosure I first thought of a TL but I think I
July 21, 200817 yr If that "944" implies a Porsche 944, forget about a folded horn and think about something else It's not about the most "hardcore" enclosure, it's about what works best for the goals you have in mind. While I'm a huge fan of horn enclosures at home, in a vehicle they're simply too impractical in most cases. Unless you drive a full size SUV or cargo van.
July 21, 200817 yr Author Ohh no not for my car lol that would look like junk. its for a show room at my shop. mabie il sell it to someone with a huge suv but probly just for a show room.
July 22, 200817 yr Hey 944.....do Jim a favor and take pictures of your buildlog on the horn....jim gets his jollies off things like that....
July 22, 200817 yr I'd start by reading all you can about horn design. Go on DIYAudio and soak up all you can. James Melhuish's excellent single driver site might have had a section on subwoofer horns, it's been a while since I've been there.
July 22, 200817 yr I used a Horn Loaded Design years back for night club enclosures and hadadjustable chokers in the port to altert the tuning..takes up alot of room though I do have a design for a True Horn Loaded "Frugal Horn" home audio cabinet thatI have been sitting on for a while..I have been thinking on ordering some exotichardwood and making a pair
July 23, 200817 yr the Frugal Horns will be available for sale.... I'll be putting JBL PRO tweets and drivers in my personal pair
July 23, 200817 yr Author Iv read every thing I could find still have no clue about how to make them. If anyone has plans to make a folded horn that uses a single 10 I would be more then happy to make it and see how it plays out. If not im thinking il make Decware's 10 inch death box.
July 25, 200817 yr for personal use or sale Thumpper??http://www.frugel-horn.comI was going to build a pair of Spawns for my main speakers in the SET rig, ended up with BIBs though as they used a lot less wood. But the guys that design those plans really know what they're doing. Almost every design on that site has a corresponding DIYAudio thread in the Full Range section, helps answer any questions you may have or if the designers post updates/revisions...Horns are very fun
July 26, 200817 yr That is Josh's sub. 25 cubic feet, if I remeber correctly. Built by FunkyWaves.http://www.funkywaves.net/custom.cfm
