Posted July 24, 200817 yr Alright guys....decided im going to try sq (me doing sq is... new ) I am REALLY wanting to use the ixl 10's in a sealed box (3 10's, actually) Mark recommended .5 cuft sealed each. now, how much power per sub would be needed? is 500 each enough? more/less? Any other suggestions? comments?
July 24, 200817 yr I hope 500 is enough since I'm only planning to run about 400. I've not heard that these are especially inefficient so I would think that 500 apiece should be plenty. That's based on experience with running a fairly inefficient sub on 400 and being perfectly happy. Having 3 subs will help you out a lot, too.
July 24, 200817 yr 500 each should be more than enough, 1500W to subs is probably going to be pushing it for an sq system.don't get me wrong, you don't need a lesser amp, but you probably won't be able to run the IXLs full tilt and expect the frontstage to keep up
July 24, 200817 yr My single one doesn't get anywhere near that and it is more than plenty. I do have a 1000/1 on it, but the gains are really, really low. Plenty of output to keep up with even rather rowdy front stages.
July 24, 200817 yr I also would have to say 500 each should be plenty. If you find it lacking, which I highly doubt you will, you can always stuff the box later. Edited July 24, 200817 yr by Puggsley456
