Posted August 6, 200817 yr My pioneer HU died the other day when I hit a pot hole and now I need to replace it with somthing better. I've been looking at the Nakamichi CD-300,400,and 500 and also the pioneer premier 800 and 880. I know the nak's don't have nearly the features of the pioneer, but I'd kinda like to try somthing different, and I like the simplicity. Do any of you have opinions or suggestions?I'd like to get the best sound quality out of my system without spending much.I've got CDT coaxials (which are awesome for what they are), and a pair of 15" kicker L5's pushed by a kenwood 600w cheap amp. I got the subs mostly because I was young and they look cool and got a good deal, just put the CDT speakers in last year because my old junk fell apart.I really want to get into SQ, but don't have the money now so I'm looking for what will make my stuff sound good without spending on an external amp yet and maybe in a few years make good noise with a decent component set.Being the biggest purchase in my system as of yet, I want to get the deck that's really right for me
August 6, 200817 yr Get the Pioneer. you won't tell a difference in sound between the two and it provides more options.
August 6, 200817 yr ...im sure they will come after the install ...(if its good) Edited August 6, 200817 yr by SEBASTO
August 6, 200817 yr Author actually, if you can give me good reasons, I might consider the alpine, but my experience with them so far (1 deck) is that it seems like you pay a lot for the name, and I can get just as much for less from someone else

That isn't a sentence nor does it convey any sort of point. Between the Nak and the Pio, I agree with TF the Pio is well worth it just for the tuning options. Critically important if you ask me.
