August 11, 200817 yr If your head unit doesn't have the processing, I'd probably find a way to either upgrade that or install a small outboard crossover. Adds another component, yes, but if you're relying on the amp to do it you don't have a lot of flexibility there. With a separate crossover you have the flexibility to switch amps to better suit your install if need be...and a lot of the time they're easier to adjust
August 12, 200817 yr Of course most of the crossovers that are capable of running an active front stage are a bit pricy. Finding a used Coustic XM-3, -5, or -7 is a good way to go. The XM6 can be had pretty inexpensively. I have one that I got NIB off eBay for $50 shipped.
