My compressor is running forever tonight. Not filling up at all it seems. I was worried at first, but could the humidity be to blame for such a slow fill up time? Im gaining about 10 pounds of pressure every 5 mins or so.

Slow leak somewhere would be my thought. Or perhaps the motor needs to be oiled.

Just changed the oil after I started having the problem. That was my first guess as well. Didnt solve anything though.

I also checked for leaks. Although the leak would have to be pretty big for the compressor to not be able to keep up with the leak.

You might have just plain ass wore it out, might be time for a rebuild of the pump, new pistons/rings. What kind of compressor is it? If you don't see a leak anywhere, I'd crack the union coming out of the pump and see how much flow you get right out of it.

I sure hope its not wore out yet, its 3 years and about 2 weeks old. Of course, comes with a 3 year warranty... Its a Kobalt 60 gallon, not sure on the model, but its the lower end model.

I have thought about the piston rings, but I really have no idea what to look for to check that kind of stuff out.

Good idea on pulling out the main line, I will check that out tomorrow. That will probably give me a better idea, hopefully.

If you use it a lot you I can easily see wearing out the pump in three years. Kobalt should sell a rebuild kit I'd imagine.

*edit* Have you checked the air intake side of the compressor? Perhaps the filter collapsed or something on you?

It doenst get used a ton really. Just to run the air gun for spraying glue on enclosures. I did check the air filter, it seemd to be in good shape.
