I wish I could bring my explorer, and test it on your mic and see what freq I am at now, from recent memory, many explorer's (1st gen) were in the 53hz range for street, but I could be a little low on that figure

I'd have to vote for IASCA, as it's currently the only association we've got in South Africa.

We should have EMMA from 2006, and there's rumours of DB Drags making a come-back here, so things are looking up!

I like usaci and DBDrag. the politics in DBDrag kill me as well as the lack of trophies/prizes. if you arent 1st - 3rd place you dont get chit. I went to a 2X a few weeks back here in Orlando. Paid fourty dollars, took 4th place in Bass Race and didnt get a damn thing. The last usaci show I went to I took 4th place in street Beat 3 and atleast got a certificate. now I know I can print my own certificate off the DBDrag page and thats cool and all...but I still paid fourty bucks for a sunburn.

the only reason I have a DBDrag membership is because of Bass Race, it is a whole lot of fun and very very addicting. I am not a very big fan of street beat...I have two JBL GTO15's and I was put up against a guy with two MT's that did low 50's....I do really low 40's on music.

Yea the no return has helped influence my decision to stop competing. I have more important things to spend my money on.

Heck I once placed 8th in a SLAP show (not audio) and still got a plack.

I compete in MECA SQ, I like their laid back attitude ... and they tend to be much more helpful and friendly. I am the current modified points champion, I am using this as an amatuer season ... learning to tune by ear.

learning to tune by ear is a great thing. a lot of guys don't always want to learn to do this in SQ.

i have heard a lot of systems guys have thought sounded good and it infact sounded like chit. they get into the judging lane and get pissed at the low score in the SQ area of their install and wonder how could this be. when ever I'm at a show like that i usually lend a hand at tuning by ear. as an installer you have ot have an ear for great sound and not have the bass over running your highs like I see a lot of around here.

The majority of events that are in a pretty close proximity are Usaci, so i guess i'll have to go with that one

i guess im gonna have to go with IASCA, even though i have to travel out of the country for the nearest sq competitions, or south 4 states for one. It sucks just a little, makes me consider doing spl, as there are about 10-20 competitions a year only 2 and 1/2 hours away.

I got fed up with dB Drag last night....but that was LB's audio (some buddies of mine) hired someone to be set up by 3 and they didnt even pull into the emenince/6x9 in the grille fest untill after 5. But that is one instance. I still say dB Drag is the most fair but hardest to win in...but that just makes you a little more proud of your trophies.

USACI or IASCA When they put on a Finals there is a show and there are manufactures there and spectators and special events..

The reason is that if you want to compete at the highest level then DB Drag is where it is at. When it comes to spl it is like reaching the NFL or NBA, to me it is the pinnacle of spl competition. I have never done a sound quality competition but have seen some of the IASCA sq judging, I also have a copy of the rules. It seems to have far too many rules to actually be able to enjoy what you are doing(but this is just my opinion), I also checked out DB Drags rules for Psyclone and think they are far too minimal. There needs to be something in the middle, and there very well may be with one of the other organizations.

I urge everyone to check out www.teamnortheastspl.com, it is a budding organization here in the northeast(mainly New York and Canada). There is also a forum if anyone wants to ask any questions or just get to know some of the guys competing there.

my buddy runs new england spl he plans to go to a show for northeastspl and see how it is. he runs his own but loves to support anyone else willing to bring more shows to the area check out his site newenglandspl similar to db drag

I've done Slapshow, USACi and Db Drags so far and Db Drags is by far the best one out there. They are far better organized than any of the other major competition org's out there. IASCA died here in the Northeast long before I got into competing, so I never had the chance to compete with them. And like dbJunior said, I run New England SPL so I don't have as much time to compete anymore. I pretty much host all the dB Drags shows in New England along with my own NESPL shows. I'm planning to hit the TNESPL 2X and Db Drags 3X in NY in June, then I can say I've competed with another organization. They seem pretty well organized from the looks of their shows and their website, so we'll have to wait and see how good the shows really are.
