i already got the amp, would 1 saz1500d be enough for 2 BL 18s until i can sell the 1500d to get a 3000d?

A single 1500D can power a single BL just fine. If you want to power both of the BL's to their rated power then yes, the 3000D will work for you. Maybe just buy another 1500D and run the amps separately?

the single 1500d would run the woofers just fine until you get more power.

I realize everyone try's to argue the point that under-powering blows woofers... I won't argue the point.

for daily driving I run two 1250rms woofers off just the sub channel of my kicker zx700.5 (roughly 400watts max for the sub channel (I run 5k when I compete but I remove the amps after each show)) I have yet to burn up the amp, woofers or anything for that matter. heck I still do over 140 db at the headrest just running my 5channel..

anyhow,

You should still be satisfied with the single 1500 for now, especially if they live up to all the hype I've heard about them.. Then be happy to know that they'll only get louder as you add another 1500 or swap to a 3000

FYI, I have ran my comp setup on 100w...just to play music. It was more than enough to cover the fronts.

You will actually need that power to get them to sound louder. In my opinion, 2 18's on 1500w should be more than enough for listening to music..

1500watts will run the subs... but just dont expect to win any comps... or even be so happy that you dont want another 1500 watts .....

but yes it will be fine.

thanks for replies, i will probably just sell the 1500d and go ahead and get the 3000d. it will be easier to sell amp while it is brand new than used i would imagine.

They won't here, because it's wrong :)

good.. :)

I've had too many people on forums argue that underpowering is the primary cause of premature woofer/amp failure......

LOL is underpowering a subwoofer not the same as just simply playing it with the volume down?

yes, which is why the thought is retarded.

Just had this conversation with someone that should have known better last week.

I think the confusion comes in when the user buys a 2000 watt amp for a sub rated 2500 watts. He clips the crap out of the amp and has now blown past the thermal limitations of the driver and melts the coil. clams underpowering it killed it.

But even then, "clipping" did not kill the driver, passing the thermal limits did. If he would have clipped a 800 watt amplifier on the 2500 watt driver, he would have more than likely killed the amp while the driver survived. I could see clipping reducing the driver's thermal rating if you could find a way to clip it hard enough to effect the cooling due to reduced airflow around the coil. . .

Man Honda95 did a big test on this. . .

ok, thanks as always. I am going to go ahead and order another 1500d next week. If i am going to strap both 1500d's together what subs do i get D1 or D2? i know run D2 to each amp is 1 ohm load, but didnt know if it was different with 2 amps strapped? thanks

found it i think: i run 2 D2's to a 2 ohm load then hook up like this pic

i have always had just 1 big amp runnin my subs in the past, so i am just making sure what i need to order next week. sorry for so many questions.

When amps are strapped, the required minimum impedance is 2X the normal single amp minimum impedance. So you will need a 2 ohm load for the strapped pair.

Run D2 coils. Series the coils on each sub (4 ohms per sub), and then run the pair of subs in parallel (2 ohm total).

Connect the negatives of the amps together. Use the positive of the master amp as the positive to the subs. Use the positive on the slave amp as the negative to the subs.

thanks again, i read all these post about strapping, then i read them again, and to be sure again. LOL. i got it now. Now i order my D2's, another amp, and i have a 1400 and 2000 kinetik, maybe i will get another 2000

I'll sell my soul to whoever blows a sub STRICTLY from under powering it.
