Posted December 25, 200420 yr ok so if i got 2 amps hooked up how should i ground them, so far i got a 1/0 spliced to 2 8 guage wires. its not working very well, should i get another distro block for my gound wires as well?
December 25, 200420 yr I myself like to ground them separately without a distro block. I also like to use 1 guage larger than my power wire since the ground is THE most important part and you want the LEAST amount of resistance, but that's not always feasible. What sort of problems are you having?
December 25, 200420 yr Admin in my car, with the 1/0 it is seperate, but in my truck it is going into a ground block, but I think the seperate approach is the better idea. There might be something into grounding them far apart maybe, but not sure/
December 26, 200420 yr Author well think of it as having a 1/0 wire taped to two 8guage wires, running to both amps. I know it the connection, but basicly one amp will work and the other won't, the amps will cut on and off repeatedly, and the sub amp makes the sub sqeeel like a pig, no joke.
December 26, 200420 yr Get rid of that branched connection and ground them either separately or correctly with the block. Make sure the connections are TIGHT and it's down to CLEAN bare metal. I cannot stress the CLEAN enough. After sanding/scraping/grinding down to bare metal, take some brake cleaner and wipe that metal clean. This is the best thing to use as it dries quickly and leaves NO residue. I myself like to take some silicone and go over all grounding points and cover them so I never get any corrosion. Corrosion will kill and connection in a matter of time.

December 27, 200420 yr Author well the original wire that is grounded to my car is nicely done. I just connected the wires to it because i have 2 amps now and the 1/0 gauge doesn't fit the either amps i have. It did howver fit my old amp. I'll just get another distro block tommorow.
