Posted December 30, 200420 yr Hello everyone. I have a 91 CRX that I am installing a new system into and was hoping to get a little guidance especially in choosing a sub/box and amp. I have everything else picked out. I am in teh process of installing an Eclipse 8454, a set of Rainbow soundline 6.5 comps, rainbow soundline coaxes for fill to be run off the HU. The front comps will have about 100 w/ch from a ED NINe.2 (had a monitor 70w /ch that lasted a few hours). I've installed two layers of edead deadening on the doors. I'm working on getting this al in and it is going slowly because I want to install it right. Now for the rest of it. I need some a sub(s), amp and enclosure. I have pretty much decided on two 12 in RL-p subs from Soundsplinter. I really have no way of listening to different subs so I have no way of comparing. I love my two SVS subs...best audio purchase I ever made and teh soundsplinters are a close cousin so thats how I decided that. However, i have no idea how to build a box, whether to port or not, etc. I hope I can get some guidance on building one from this site. i also need a sub amp. Was considering teh NINe.1 from ED just to keep the same brand. The HiFonics Brutus was also suggested. So I will be lurking around asking a question here and there to try to decide on a box design and specs and choose an amp. Any suggestions you have will be greatly appreciatedThanks,Greg
December 30, 200420 yr welcome to the forum greg!!sounds like ur going to have a pretty sweet sounding system. a lot of quality equipment listed there.if u want to post ur sub/box questions in the soundsplinter forum, or the sub forum...i'm sure u'll get plenty of opinions regarding ur options!!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
December 30, 200420 yr yes real nice stuff,i think with the nine.1 and the sound splinter subs it will be just awesome.....but yea ask this question n the sub or Sound Splinter section.....oh and welcome to the forum....................... jamie
December 31, 200420 yr YO!! My opinion. . . Don't even bother with the rear fill. The Rainbows are AWESOME!! You'll love them and the fill will not be needed. The SVS subs are very nice I hear. There's a member on SIN running one now and he loves it. No idea on how the SoundSplinters sound, but I'll take Kent's word that they wang and sound great, so you can't beat what you've got equipment-wise. Keep us updated with pics!
December 31, 200420 yr Author OK, I will be posting some pics when I get my new mac to recognize my dig camera, grrrr......I had no idea what type of subs to choose because I have no way to compare, only opinions. I do however love my HT subs and the SS drivers appeared to be very close. Now just trying to get some info on boxes and amps, then I'll buy that stuff at once. The Rainbows are giving me fits on the install in my CRX doors so I have plenty to work on until I finalize box and amp decision. I will say the efforts I spent on deadening the doors will help tremendously. Today I hooked up the polk 6.5 coaxes I had in there before. I didn;t ever screw them in, just put them in teh dppr holes and put the interior skin over it, just to have something to listen to driving across town. They sounded much better than before when i had them screwed in and mounted properly. Cool feeling to see your efforts pay off.Making the spacers is a pain but I'm gonna just take my time and get it like I want it. Pics coming soon.YO!! My opinion. . . Pics coming soon.speaking from experience..the soundsplinters are awesome. the single 12" rl-p i'm running sealed in my wife's car gets loud and low. it's extremely responsive and, well, if it wasn't for the wife's factory h/u starving the amp for voltage, the rl-p would easily overpower the rest of the system.get them pics up..... wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
