I do not want to run an amp @ 1/2 ohm. I have two dual 2 subs.

I can get a Massive P3000.1 for $618.99, bnib, but it has to come over the border, so I'm not sure what border fees will be and stuff.

MA Audio HK802SX

I've heard both of these are power hogs.. I was thinking of going with a 200 amp alternator, and some extra batteries, would this be enough? I haven't found the batteries yet.

I could also buy two SAZ-1500Ds, old heat sink design from dB-r. However that is really more than I'm wanting to spend.

What else is out there?

MA AMPS are putting more than watts into your subs? Look at these reviews off of the links you posted. This should not be happening. An amp that cooks subs is a very bad thing. If I made amps I wouldn't want this written about my product. From a customer standpoint, I wouldn't want to spend money on something that is going to cost even more due to damage it causes to other equipment.

Here's what you should do: Get those Sundown amps. Jacob will answer any questions you may have AND they will not destroy your subs. If you should ever have a problem, they will make sure you're taken good care of. Go look thru this forum, everyone loves these amps, they are well worth the money.

i have this hooked up to 2 x 10 immortal in a vented box in a g35 coupe , no trunk space, and when i turn it up 85% after 5 min of blasting you see smoke coming out of the box, i need better subs

I have one of these amps on a Kicker Solo-x 12, and this amp pushes this sub with everything and more. This amp is so powerful that I have to turn my amp almost all the way down, so it want blow the sub, and the sub is 5000 watts. If you are looking for something that has enough power to blow your windows out your car then buy this amp. I promise it will not let you down.

Sounds like a square wave generator to me...

Haha I never even looked at the reviews, the MA amps were reccomended to me by somebody else.

While I don't condone buying MA Audio, but you cant trust the reviews on that site. Also you cant guarantee he wont blow his subs with the Sundowns.

As to what you are looking for I would save some money and go with the two Sundown 1500ds, as stated before Jacob is great at answering any questions you have and taking care of any problems you have in a professional manner.

I've been told to get a used SAZ-3000D and run it at half ohm.

I don't want to do this because I don't want to decrease its life...

I honestly dont know what to do.. $800~ on two refurbished SAZ-1500ds.. I dunno....

Edited by Gearstix

Unless competing seriously I wouldn't run any amplifier below its rated safe load. Its just to much stress on the amp/electrical system. I thought refurbished 1500s were like 350 a piece DB-r sites down so I cant check. Or they have a sale on them now, brand new for 425 a piece. You could also try something like the Kicker ZX2500 or Hifonics Colossus.

If it were up to me I would get the 1500ds.

If you are lucky, and I mean REALLY lucky you can get a used 3000D for less than $800, I got mine for $700...It's worth it though. Don't run at .5 ohms daily, unless you have a badass electrical system.

$40 for the both to ship to canada.

I will need electrical as well to support the amp(s)... so that cuts into the budget.

Yeah I don't think the SAZ-3000 is an option... I need 3000W @ 2 ohm.

You don't "need" 3kw at 2 ohms. You're choosing to run that much. In reality, the subs you choose can utilize far less.

I know I don't "need" 3kW, but I would like to give them RMS power.

Well how about two Lanzar Opti-drive-1000d?

Sounds like a good idea :)

You will have to match the gains pretty closely and separate each sub, but it's going to work ok

I can do that with a DMM right?

Yes :)

I can get the two Optis for around $480 shipped.... think its worth it or should I buy a larger amp...

If you want to go with Lanzar I would search for the old school product (pre 1997) made before they were bought by Pyramid. It's infinitely better than their new stuff, or better yet go with the Sundowns.

You could also look into the MaxxLink to signal strap those amps together.

I guess thats an option too...

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do, waiting on some messages from some sellers of some amps I've looked at..

I have a like new yamaha electric guitar and a zoom fireball amp and traynor amp I might sell to fund the car audio amps/electrical.

There's nothing "magical" amount a sub's RMS rating, not really sure where this misconception comes from :)

preach on brother

I meant "about", whoops :)

But still...unless you know a lower power level isn't going to provide the output that you want...

I'll see what I can come up with.. I would like to give them enough power.. don't want to send like 300W to two spl subs.

I know the MA topic is dead... however I've owned and competed with and 802sx and....

I ran a pair of MA12XL's on it for a while and posted decent numbers 149-150 legal all sealed on the dash stock class... My biggest problem with the amp was it always shutting down for no apparent reason.. anytime the output voltage reached 160volts it shut down.. with or without a load. it also consumed tons of current

And as for the reviews...

I never burnt up a woofer on the amp.... Never..... heck I used it on my 2 diamond audio d5 10's for a whole season without burning up a sub..

I switched out to two soundstream ega1700d's and fried the woofers on the first run in the first 5 seconds of the run... :) same box.. same note.. same electrical.. posted right at a 151 before they died..
